We’re looking for you for an internship at Demcon Johan Sports. Do you enjoy working on a product that is actually used by customers, whether to add new features or to improve it? We offer you an internship where you will join the development team and work on part of the Johan Sports system to add a new feature or improvement. You will gain experience in a dynamic team and within a professional, multidisciplinary development environment where we are constantly working on the Johan Sports product, from embedded software to the UX and UI of apps, depending on your background.

Demcon Johan Sports is a developer of GPS tracking systems for monitoring the health and improving the performance of sports teams.

At Demcon Johan Sports, we have a multidisciplinary engineering team specialising in embedded software, front-end development, UI/UX design, back-end development and application engineering. We work together continuously to improve our Johan Sports PACER product and add new features.

Demcon Johan Sports sells PACER sports performance systems to professional football and hockey teams. Our PACER system consists of an embedded, a front-end and a back-end component. The tracker, equipped with embedded software, measures an athlete’s heart rate, acceleration and GPS data. The tracker transmits this data to a back-end, where we calculate metrics such as distances, sprints and heart rate recovery from the raw data. The back-end stores this information for each training session for the player and the team. The front-end displays this information to the coach or player via a website, Android app or iOS app.

Your assignment

As an intern at Demcon Johan Sports, you will be working on a new feature or an improvement to the PACER system. Depending on your background or education, you may implement an improvement or explore a completely new feature. We will discuss this with you to ensure it suits your skills and interests. Your assignment could range from improving the embedded GPS sensor driver, to redesigning one of the apps, to researching AI-personalised training advice for players in the back-end. We are constantly innovating, so there are many possibilities. You will need to create a design, possibly conduct research, and implement and test your solution. If everything works well, your result may be included in a release for the PACER system.

You will become part of the engineering team. You will work with colleagues from other engineering disciplines to integrate your solution into the PACER system. These are full-time internships and final-year projects. An exact start date will be determined in consultation.
