Are you looking for an internship where you can make a positive impact to a more sustainable and equitable world?

SNV is seeking a curious and analytical Contracting & Procurement (C&P) Intern who will support the advancement of SNV's contracting procurement, compliance, and risk management processes.

Note: this internship is only for students that are currently registered and enrolled in an accredited Dutch University and for the duration of the internship.

The internship

As the Contracting & Procurement (C&P) Intern you will have the opportunity to learn about our organisation's governance, risk and compliance environment in SNV and you will be part of the Global Risk and Compliance Team in The Hague. This team is responsible for maintaining and improving SNV standards and operational policy and risk frameworks, as well as steering risk, support and monitoring on legal, tax, donor contracts, supplier procurement and contracting, project execution, country logistics and SNV’s Carbon Reduction Strategy.

You will work on a variety of projects and tasks that will draw on your organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage data and processes effectively. In particular, you will support the tracking and administration of procurement activities, contribute to reporting and dashboard development, as well as provide assistance with contract management and other procurement-related workflows.

Your tasks and activities will align with your specific learning objectives, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience. We offer ongoing guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Procurement Tracker as a continuous improvement project, ensuring accurate and timely capture of key data points such as submission and completion timelines, procurement approaches, thresholds, and purchase order (PO) creation milestones.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the contract register by systematically capturing and structuring information on Framework Agreements (FWAs) and other contractual arrangements to improve data accessibility and compliance oversight.
  • Assist in the development of KPI monitoring tools and dashboards by compiling and analysing procurement data, contributing to insights on areas such as sourcing methods, service delivery timelines, invoice compliance (including invoices without POs), and use of standard templates, while also supporting country-level reporting requests.
  • Participate in procurement transparency initiatives by supporting the publication of tender opportunities on the SNV tender portal.
  • Contribute to global reporting exercises through the preparation and consolidation of SAP-based datasets, including supplier onboarding (e.g., small-value supplier creation) and roster-related analysis.
  • Support knowledge management and process documentation projects by organizing, updating, and improving internal procurement resources, guidelines, and training materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and support the design and implementation of workflow improvements within procurement and compliance practices.
  • Provide cross-functional project and administrative support, contributing to the overall effectiveness, accuracy, and continuous improvement of procurement operations.

Requirements for the internship:

  • This internship is open to students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's program at an accredited Dutch university in a financial, legal or supply chain field (degree course of study). Proof of enrolment is required; SNV may request a short-written confirmation from the student or university if necessary.
  • The university must facilitate the internship, and a university supervisor or mentor must be identified, with full name and contact details shared with SNV.
  • The intern must have legal right to reside in the Netherlands for the full period of the internship (SNV does not sponsor visas or permits for interns). The university can be based abroad.

What you will bring

  • Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus (French, Portuguese, or other languages where SNV operates).
  • Experience in generating visually compelling graphs and reports that simplify complex data.
  • Proficiency with Excel will be an advantage.
  • A curious, self-motivated individual that works well in a team.
  • Skilled in deconstructing problems and systematically investigating its components and solutions.
  • Good understanding or interest in procurement processes, supplier management, and contract administration.

What we offer you

  • Internship agreement for 4 to maximum of 6 months.
  • Allowance of gross €500 euros per month based on a 40-hours workweek (pro-rated to parttime hours).
  • Reimbursement of public transport costs.
  • A challenging work environment opportunity to lead and innovate, and a commitment to growing your skills in a fulfilling and diverse working environment.
  • Ability to influence senior leadership decisions and the direction of the whole organization through the reporting and insights you generate.
  • Work within a team of friendly and professional individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (compliance, tax, legal, donor compliance, risk management, project management).
  • Flexible work arrangements and schedules, and a strong organizational culture built on respect, trust, and openness.
