Damen Shiprepair and Conversion is looking for a Sales Manager who is able to build and maintain long term relationships with our clients.

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DS&C group) is a full daughter of the Damen Shipyards Group. With its 11 repair yards, we complete over 1,500 repair and maintenance projects annually, both at yards as well as in ports and during voyage. We carry out a wide range of maintenance work, refits and conversions for all possible maritime clients and types of vessels and (offshore) installations. Within the shipbuilding and shiprepair industry, our goal is to become the world’s most sustainable organization, with our Navigating to Zero program.

The role

As a Sales Manager, you will represent all yards within the Shiprepair & Conversion Group. You will be located at one of our repair yards, preferably in the south west of the Netherlands.

The main focus of this role will be the Greek market, which is particularly active in the LNG carrier, bulk carrier, tanker and container vessel segments. Responsibilities include actively developing relationships with potential or existing clients, as well as other stakeholders such as insurance/class societies, local government, and main suppliers. Communication with Fleet Directors and superintendents is essential, and frequent travel is expected.

You will work in an international environment, also outside regular workdays. In this role you take responsibility for the commercial content, timely submission of quotations and the follow up of quotations submitted by you to the client. Furthermore, cooperation is crucial in this role. You will work closely with the Commercial Managers and several departments within our individual yards, such as the estimating department and the marketing department concerning market developments. Reporting is directed to the Commercial Director of DS&C.

Key accountabilities

As a Sales Manager, you:

• Actively develop and manage relationships with potential and existing clients in Greece;
• Take responsibility for achieving the yearly set budgets;
• Create an interesting offer for our clients in co-operation with our estimating departments and Commercial Managers within our yards;
• Know our yards facilities, strengths and unique selling points;
• Are actively involved in contractual discussions and negotiate our proposals;
• Represent Damen at exhibitions and customer events;
• Support our project team on projects in execution;
• Share our successes with the marketing team;
• Continuously share experiences of our clients, our services and market developments with our yards and management;
• Keep our CRM up to date.

Skills & experience

• Bachelor (HBO) level of thinking & working;
• Preferably minimum five years (commercial / projects) experience in maritime industry;
• Able to translate your clients wishes and needs to the responsible yard;
• Professional attitude;
• Commercial and networking skills;
• Dare to take responsibility and initiative;
• Excellent mastery of the Dutch and English language, and preferably basic knowledge of Greek;
• No nine to five mentality and fulltime available.
