What are you going to do?

Would you like to use your experience as a Data Engineer to contribute to the further scaling up of our new Vision technology in our products? Then read on!

You will contribute to the further scaling up of our new Vision technology in our products. We are expanding our platform with smart, scalable solutions that help farmers monitor cows via video. From edge devices deployed on-premise to intelligent processing in the cloud, we convert raw sensor and video data into useful insights for farmers and farm visitors.

As a Data Engineer in the newly formed Vision Insights team, you will work with data engineers from other teams to set up a data platform for our data. The data platform will contain sensor data, video data, insights and other data points and will be used for research and analysis purposes. You will support the computer vision engineer in your team in setting up training pipelines and ML-ops solutions.

Your responsibilities

Data platform

Together with data engineers in other teams, you will be responsible for the data platform, making agreements with the teams about what data will be supplied and how.

Data platform hub

Specifically for our edge devices, you will ensure that data can be collected so that it can be incorporated into our data platform.

ML Ops

You will support the Computer Vision Engineer in setting up training pipelines and ML-Ops solutions and ensure that the training can be carried out repeatedly.

Recording and knowledge sharing

Documenting design choices, optimisation techniques and validation results.

Your team

The Vision Insights team is a multidisciplinary team that will focus on further developing computer vision algorithms, building and maintaining software applications, processing and managing data systems, and ensuring the quality and reliability of the system. This new team consists of a Computer Vision Engineer, Software Engineers, and a Product Owner. As a Data Engineer, you will be part of this new team. We have developed a new technology that you will take to the next phase in collaboration with the other team members.

You will work closely with the Computer Vision Engineer and Software Engineers within the team, but you will also be in frequent contact with other teams and disciplines within R&D. The teams focus on software for both dairy farmers and our global business partners. In this way, we strive to continuously improve life on the farm. The teams are multidisciplinary and work according to our Agile way of working. There is a continuous stream of new features based on our own insights and customer feedback.

What's in it for you?

Our offer

As a Data Engineer at Nedap, you will make a valuable contribution to our goal: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. In addition to your salary, you are entitled to a thirteenth month, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a shareholder of Nedap. At Nedap, everything revolves around trust and autonomy. That’s why, along with your colleagues, you decide on your own working hours and vacation days to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also highly value personal and professional growth. You will receive a comprehensive introduction, and we encourage you to continuously develop yourself.

Required skills

As a Data Engineer, you are flexible and know how to deal with a tech stack that has not yet been fully defined. Not only do you make independent decisions to steer projects in the right direction, but you also ensure that you first identify the needs of users of the data platform clearly and comprehensively. You actively consult with stakeholders, ask the right questions, verify and validate requirements, and only then translate these into a technically sound proposal or decision. Clear communication and close collaboration with colleagues within and outside the discipline are essential in this regard. You know how to select and apply the right tools and infrastructure to suit the organisation and user requirements. In addition, you actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the discipline and, where necessary, take on a mentoring role towards less experienced colleagues.

You recognise yourself in the following points:

  • Work experience: You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar Data Engineering role and dealing with big data solutions;
  • Programming languages: Extensive experience with Python;
  • Data platform experience: You have experience with open source data platforms (Clickhouse is an advantage);
  • Language skills: You speak and write fluent English. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.

Good to know: Hybrid (remote) working is common within Nedap and together with your team you will arrange your own working hours for a good work-life balance. You are preferably present at our campus in Groenlo at least three times a week.

Nedap is a leader in Digital Twin solutions, bridging the physical and digital worlds in Healthcare, Retail, Security, and Livestock. Our technology stack—built on IoT, RFID, Vision, and SaaS—provides real-time insights to optimize operations, manage risks, and drive data-driven decisions. In short, Nedap’s Digital Twin Technology empowers businesses to unlock their full potential.
