At JBT Marel, Primary Processing is where animal wellbeing, customer demands and needs, product quality and line performance come together. We are looking for a Field Service Engineer who understands that the first stages of the process determine everything that follows.

In this role, you are the technical specialist for Stunning, Scalding and Defeathering systems. You ensure that our equipment operates in full compliance with animal wellbeing standards while achieving optimal yield, quality and uptime. This is a specialist role for someone who combines mechanical expertise with strong technological process appearance and ethical responsibility.

What you’ll be doing:

You are responsible for installation, commissioning and optimization of:

  • Electrical Stunning and Controlled Atmosphere Stunning Systems
  • Post stunning process equipment
  • Immersion scalding and AeroScalding systems
  • Pluckers, finishers and complete defeathering modules

Your focus goes beyond mechanical functionality. You safeguard:

  • Compliance with animal welfare regulations (EU and international standards)
  • Evaluate stunning behavior and performance and correct stunning parameters
  • Customer demands on primary and “end product” quality
  • Controlled scalding temperature and dwell times
  • Optimal defeathering performance with respect to performance and carcass damage

On-site, you:

  • Lead commissioning of complete primary processing sections
  • Optimize process parameters in collaboration with production management
  • Perform root cause analysis on welfare deviations or quality issues
  • Act as escalation point, within your specialism, during critical start-ups
  • Provide structured reporting and technical feedback to engineering
  • Train customers on correct machine setup, welfare compliance and preventive maintenance
  • Advise customers on process improvements and upgrades

What kind of a person are you?

You are a person with strong process awareness and a clear understanding of the ethical and regulatory impact of your work. To be successful in this role you recognize yourself in the profile below:

  • Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the food processing Industry is a plus
  • Proven experience with installation and commissioning of complex machinery
  • Understanding of process parameters (temperature, dwell time, voltage, mechanical impact) is a plus
  • Experience working in hygienic and regulated production environments is a plus
  • Good command of English (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to travel internationally (~60%)
