Want to make your mark on our time? Become an Accounting & Reporting Specialist at TNO in The Hague!

About this position

How do you value a facility that is so experimental that it does not exist anywhere else in the world? How do you ensure that new forms of project financing involving multiple partners are correctly reflected in the annual report? How do you assess the results of participations that are still in the start-up phase? Just a few of the questions you may encounter in your work.

As an Accounting and Reporting specialist, you contribute on many fronts to TNO’s financial reporting and accountability, for example towards the Tax Authorities, TNO’s external auditor, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK). Your responsibilities include preparing statutory and consolidated financial statements, advising on VAT and corporate income tax issues related to various project contracts and (international) collaborations, hedging currency risks, and designing and validating internal controls.

At TNO, you work together with intrinsically motivated colleagues—people who, like you, want to make an impact on the world through research and innovation by contributing to well-being, safety, and (economic) development.

What will be your role?

The Financial Accounting (FA) department will be your home base. From FA, you will work with a small and driven team across all levels of TNO, and you will be part of the management team responsible for the FA department (65 FTE). This puts you in the front row when it comes to special transactions, partnerships, sustainability ambitions, and innovative investments—developments that make our financial reporting increasingly complex and challenging.

For example, you will provide advice on our spin-offs, which are designed to bring technology to market more quickly. Or you will help further deploy AI and digitalisation to strengthen TNO’s internal controls and improve processes.

There are plenty of opportunities!

What we expect from you

Choosing between public or private? Why would you? You find both incredibly interesting. And, like your TNO colleagues, you are eager to contribute to the world of tomorrow. To do so, you like to apply your expertise, for example in the field of financial reporting standards. Your mindset is innovative and solution-oriented: you come up with new ideas and tools to improve the quality and efficiency of the work.

What we also expect from you:

  • At least a completed HBO (Bachelor’s) degree, preferably a completed university MSc.
  • RA and/or RB qualification.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of NL GAAP.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career.

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave on a full-time basis.
  • Flexible working hours, the possibility to work parttime (32 of 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
  • A good pension scheme.

TNO as an employer

At TNO, we innovate for a healthier, safer and more sustainable life. And for a strong economy.

Innovation with purpose: that is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for practical application. TNO connects people and knowledge to create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way.
