For over four decades, CEGA has been the outstanding emergency assistance service behind some of the UK's largest insurers, corporate bodies and public sector organisations.
We began as a family business back in 1973, first operating as an air taxi service, then as a dedicated air ambulance provider, with our own flight and medical crews. Soon we were meeting a growing demand for domestic and international medical transfers.
Driving this success were our founders, Clive and Graham Ponsford, under whose ownership we evolved to become a leading international travel claims management and global assistance group, and the UK's largest independent assistance provider - offering a range of bespoke products and services to an ever-growing list of blue chip clients.
In 2015 we reached an exciting point in our history, marked first by a management buyout led by our new Group Chief Executive, Alistair Hardie. A year later, we were acquired by Charles Taylor plc: a leading provider of professional services to clients across the global insurance market. With 71 offices in 28 countries, Charles Taylor gives us access to worldwide resources and expertise that complement our own extensive global network.
Today, CEGA is led by a team that combines new visionary management with the customer focus and high quality service values that have made us a market-leading success.
The investment continues in our people and products - and in meeting the needs of insurers, businesses and individuals in a changing global travel risk landscape. We now have an operational HQ in Chichester and bases in Bournemouth and London. Throughout our growth, we have stuck steadfastly to the innovative and entrepreneurial values of a once family-owned business.
