The Consumables & Expendables for the printers of Canon Production Printing are mostly produced in-house in our factories in Venlo. Here you will find a large diversity of factories with corresponding processes and equipment—a “playground” for someone with a technical affinity.

The factories are in different technical and economic life phases. Each phase has its own challenges. In the new ink factories, the focus is mainly on upscaling and expanding functionality. In other plants, the challenge is to ensure continuity for many years to come in the most cost effective way. Production lines consist of high-tech equipment with various techniques, such as micro-precision technology and coating processes in clean room environments, or medium-sized process installations for the production of toner and inks.

What you’ll do

As a Maintenance Engineer you will look after the maintenance aspects for one of these production lines. You are responsible for the current and future technical uptime of the factory. You are responsible for the complete deployment of the Value Driven Maintenance approach, which includes Asset Utilization, Cost Control, SHEQ control and Capital Allocation projects.

In addition to your broad technical responsibilities, you bring electrotechnical knowledge and hands‑on experience with line control systems (PLC/SCADA/industrial automation).

You will support the Technical Services team (mainly technicians) in analyzing and solving complex breakdowns in order achieve minimal downtime of our high tech equipment and increase hands on tool time.

Based on your professionalism, technical ability and strong communication skills, you will define and roll out successful Preventive Maintenance strategies and advise on Capital Projects to ensure technical continuity of our production lines. In addition to the intensive collaboration with the service contractors of our machines, you will work intensively with your fellow Maintenance Engineers, Equipment Engineers, Production Engineers, Quality Engineers and Procurement Account Managers.

You identify possible risks and problems in time and look for smart and structural solutions. As part of your work you pay attention to safety, environmental aspects and the corporate Canon standards.

Who you’ll work with

You will be part of the Equipment Engineering & Technical Services Department, responsible for the maintenance & asset management of production facilities. This department has about 60 employees where approx. 30 people work within the Technical Services team (including Maintenance Engineering) and approx. 30 people within the Equipment Engineering team.

What you bring

We are looking for someone who takes initiative. A solution-oriented person with analytical and critical thinking skills. You are strong in planning and organizing your work. A networker who can maintain contact with various internal and external customers. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following job requirements:

  • Bachelor or master degree in Technical study
  • Minimum of 5 year experience as an Engineer in an (industrial) production or process environment, supplemented with experience in maintenance aspects
  • Experience with Maintenance Management systems
  • Experience and/or affinity with process technology and process installations
  • Strong electrotechnical background and experience with line control systems (e.g. PLCs, SCADA, sensors, drives, industrial automation)
  • Knowledge of and affinity with Beckhoff automation is considered an advantage
  • Affinity with data analysis and excellent analytical skills

What you’ll get from us

A job in an international, high-tech organization where you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects, serving our Consumables & Expendables production. Changing demands from markets and customers require different products. We challenge you to assure maintainability of our new production equipment and to implement innovative improvement projects in the existing plants to ensure continuity.

  • A competitive salary (range €3.800- €6.178 gross per month)
  • 38 vacation days
  • Extra 13th month pay (8,6%), holiday allowance (8%) and commuting allowance
  • Hybrid working for a healthy work-life balance
  • A huge range of training and professional development opportunities
  • A laptop and smartphone
  • An interesting lease (e-)bike plan
