Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager – New Business Acquisition to accelerate the growth of our GMP analytical and manufacturing services in the Netherlands and beyond.

This is a true hunter role. You will be responsible for identifying, targeting, and converting new business opportunities through proactive outreach and structured cold acquisition/prospecting campaigns. You own the full process: strategy, targeting, messaging, outreach, qualification, pipeline development, and closing.

You will work closely with Marketing to design and execute targeted prospecting campaigns, and you will collaborate with the Inside Sales team to ensure smooth lead handling. In addition, you will maintain a small portfolio of existing manufacturing clients to ensure continuity and support selective growth.

This role is ideal for a commercially driven professional who is confident engaging technical stakeholders and enjoys working in a GMP-regulated scientific environment.

Responsibilities:

1. New Business Acquisition (Primary Focus)

  • Full ownership of all outbound and cold acquisition activities, including campaign strategy design, planning and execution.
  • Proactively identify, approach, and win new clients in GMP small molecule testing, fill & finish and compounding, clinical trial material and small-scale commercial manufacturing.
  • Build and manage a high-quality opportunity pipeline across multiple segments.
  • Convert qualified leads into long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Analyze campaign effectiveness and continuously optimize outreach tactics.

2. Market Visibility & Lead Generation

  • Represent Eurofins at relevant conferences, exhibitions, and networking events.
  • Strengthen Eurofins’ industry presence and expand our network among biotech, pharma, and CDMOs.
  • Track competitor activity, regulatory developments, and market shifts to identify new opportunities.

3. Consultative Technical Selling

  • Translate complex customer challenges into analytical or manufacturing service solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to create robust technical proposals.
  • Align client expectations with operational capabilities to ensure a seamless customer experience.

4. Account Management (Secondary Focus)

  • Manage a small portfolio of assigned manufacturing clients.
  • Maintain strong customer satisfaction and identify selective upsell opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Project Management to ensure excellent service delivery.

5. Internal Collaboration

  • Operate effectively within a multi-business-unit structure involving six or more units.
  • Partner with Marketing, Operations, Inside Sales, Project Management, and Technical SMEs.
  • Provide commercial insights to inform strategic decisions and service positioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Analytical Sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, outbound acquisition, technical sales, or commercial roles in the pharma, biotech, CDMO, CRO, or analytical testing environment.
  • Ability to understand and discuss:
  • GMP analytical testing workflows
  • Small molecule development timelines and requirements
  • Fill & Finish and sterile manufacturing concepts
  • Regulatory expectations in pharma and biotech
  • Proven success in cold outreach and new business hunting.
  • Experience with GMP testing, CDMO services, or laboratory services is a strong advantage.
  • Hunter mentality with resilience and proactive energy.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.
  • Located in the Netherlands with a valid work permit.
