About the role

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll be shaping the engine behind a high-impact SaaS platform. You’ll design and build scalable backend functionality that solves real-world problems for our users, while helping modernize a robust codebase for the future. We’re evolving a mature monolith into a modular, testable system that supports our rapid growth. You’ll work on everything from API design to performance-critical processes and contribute to our ongoing shift toward clean architecture, automation and better developer experience.

What you’ll do

• Build and optimize backend features that drive real user value

• Design, document and maintain our Open API for both internal and external use

• Refactor legacy components into modular, scalable services

• Write automated tests and support CI/CD best practices

• Collaborate with frontend, product and infrastructure teams

• Improve performance in complex queries, calculations and processes

• Enhance Developer Experience and reduce onboarding friction

Job requirements

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years of backend experience with PHP (Laravel, Symfony, or similar)

• Comfortable with test automation (PHPUnit, Playwright) and CI/CD pipelines

• Skilled at balancing new feature delivery with long-term code quality

• Strong communicator who collaborates well across disciplines

• Passionate about clean code, simplicity and long-term maintainability

• Curious and open to evolving architectural approaches and tools

• You’re open to learning about new technologies and you’re excited to find ways to implement them in your work

• You are able to deliver quality features without much supervision all while keeping your team in the loop
