Head of Construction and Facilities

In deze rol als Head of Construction and Facilities speel je een sleutelrol in Action’s internationale groei en vastgoedstrategie. Je geeft leiding aan construction en facilities in heel Europa en zorgt dat nieuwe winkels, relocations, enlargements en refurbishments efficiënt, duurzaam en kosteneffectief worden opgeleverd. Je werkt nauw samen met country teams, leveranciers en senior leadership om Action’s winkelportfolio toekomstbestendig te maken.

What will you do?

• Manage the IHQ Construction team directly and country Construction Managers indirectly.
• Lead the Real Estate Construction & Facilities across Europe.
• Develop and drive the overall store construction strategy balancing cost, quality, and consistency.
• Oversee construction of new stores and RER projects (Relocation, Enlargement, Refurbishment).
• Manage cross-European construction suppliers and sourcing strategies.
• Drive continuous capex reduction and cost optimization initiatives.
• Lead facility management topics including maintenance, energy, and waste management.
• Ensure Real Estate contribution to Action Sustainability Roadmap (ASR).
• Monitor construction quality, timelines, capex, and opex performance.

What does your workday look like?

You start the day aligning with your IHQ Construction team on project progress and priorities across countries. Later, you meet with key suppliers to discuss performance, innovation, and cost optimization. In the afternoon, you collaborate with country Construction Managers, Business Control, and senior stakeholders on budgets, sustainability initiatives, and expansion plans. Throughout the day, you coach team members and ensure projects stay on track.

Who are you?

• University-level education, preferably a completed Master’s degree in a technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience managing Construction or Real Estate teams.
• At least extensive experience in store construction and facilities management.
• Proven experience managing external construction suppliers and contracts.
• Strong strategic and operational mindset with excellent execution skills.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Analytical, cost-conscious, and results-oriented.
• Comfortable working in an international, matrix organization.
