Job Description

Would you like to progress your career in a dynamic, rewarding and market-leading environment? If the answer is “yes”, then look no further than Vanderlande!

In the Business Function Technology, we have a position available for a Controls Engineer in the Airports Equipment Development Transport and Sort stream. We’ll give you the opportunity to work in an inspiring and challenging work environment.

Your department

The Transport and Sort stream team is a knowledgeable group of multidisciplinary product managers and subject matter experts responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of our Airports platform modules. The team builds bridges between our development teams and project execution departments to ensure product and process alignment for all disciplines. We provide the total solution and transport and sort stream product deployment knowledge to develop, sell, and deliver Airports solutions, followed by a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement.

Your position

As a Controls Engineer, you are responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining high-quality equipment control software running on a transport controller (PLC). You will translate requirements into designs and software functions. During this process, you will perform reviews, deliver design documentation, and create a test plan. Once the required functionality is clear, you will implement your code using our software library. You will test and validate your code in simulated environments, with physical equipment in our Innovation Center, or at one of our Airport customer sites. Once ready, your solution will be used worldwide in multiple projects, and you are responsible for support when required. Lessons learned will result in recommendations for improvement. In this challenging role, you will be widely involved in all kinds of architectural, design, development, and support activities.

You have a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, OT controls, or IT technology with:

  • At least 5 years of experience in an industrial work environment.
  • Proven affinity with systems controls during your working experience, internships, or hobbies.
  • Knowledge of hardware architectures and industrial networks.
  • Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and industrial automation product portfolio.
  • Interest in (electro-)mechanical equipment.
  • A strong mindset of re-use, standardization, and modularization.
  • Process-driven team player and eager to learn.
  • Prepared to travel to support your solution in case of a pilot.
  • Good command of the English language is required.
