Description of your professional mission

As a developer within the Bezoek Schip team, you will design, build, test, and deliver software that enables the seamless coordination of vessel calls in Dutch ports. Our digital services connect shipping agents, terminals, and port authorities, ensuring that all critical information flows securely and efficiently.

You will take ownership of frontend solutions while also contributing to backend development, such as shaping APIs, ensuring data quality, and delivering reliable full-stack functionality. As a Full Stack Developer, you value well-structured, maintainable code and a high-quality user experience. You have thorough knowledge of Angular and TypeScript, and you’re curious to explore technologies such as Kotlin, Terraform, and AWS.

A key focus area for the team is the implementation of the European Maritime Single Window environment (EMSWe), a major European initiative that harmonizes how maritime data is shared between member states. You will play a pivotal role in integrating Portbase systems with this new standard, contributing to the future of digital port operations.

Whether or not you already have experience in the logistics or maritime domain, what matters most is your curiosity, technical craftsmanship, and drive to build software that makes a real difference in the logistics chain.

Requirements

We’re looking for you if you can enrich our team with:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent working experience)
  • Current residence in the Netherlands
  • Experience in building and maintaining modern front-end applications using Angular and/or TypeScript
  • Interest in or experience with back-end development, preferably using Kotlin, Java, or event-driven architectures
  • Comfort working with tools like AWS, Terraform, and Docker, or eagerness to learn them

What Portbase offers you

  • A modern office within walking distance of Station Blaak and De Markthal
  • Performance management that puts you in control of your growth – we facilitate, you lead
  • Ample room for creativity, innovation, and personal initiatives – regardless of tenure
  • A collaborative and value-driven culture – we work together toward a shared goal: delivering value to the logistics community
  • 26 vacation days, with the option to purchase additional days
  • Excellent tools and employment conditions, including a laptop, phone, travel expense reimbursement, and a solid pension scheme
  • A competitive annual salary, including a 13th month bonus

About Portbase

Portbase operates as both an IT company and a logistics service provider – a unique combination that makes us strong. We understand the port ecosystem, its players, and their interests. We bring parties together, establish data-sharing agreements, and co-create solutions that make Dutch ports and their supply chains more efficient, secure, and competitive.

By processing more than 140 million transactions annually across 40 digital services, we enable the entire port community – from shipping companies to customs officers – to operate more efficiently and reliably.

Keeping things moving

For more than 21 years, Portbase has been a driving force in the digitalization of Dutch port logistics. What began as a mission to eliminate paperwork has grown into one of the world’s most advanced Port Community Systems, connecting all players across the maritime logistics chain.

Looking ahead, we continue to lead the way in developing chain-wide digital solutions that make port operations simpler, smarter, and more secure. If there is one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that we never stand still. The port community is always on the move – and so are we.
