Shape the future of retail tech, one elegant solution at a time

How do you make our customers happy?

By crafting robust, scalable solutions that power delightful experiences for 13.5 million customers and 50,000 partner sellers. You’ll join a vibrant tech community where curiosity drives innovation and collaboration breeds excellence. Whether you’re passionate about enhancing the user experience, data engineering, platform reliability, developing fintech or marketing solutions, there’s a place for you to make your mark on one of the most open and diverse retail tech platforms.

The biggest challenge

To create elegant solutions in a complex, rapidly evolving landscape. Our tech stack serves millions of interactions across multiple domains – from search and personalization to logistics and payments. You’ll need to strike the right balance between technical excellence and pragmatic delivery, while collaborating across teams to ensure solutions scale gracefully. The good news? You’ll have the support of a community that values diverse perspectives and believes the best code comes from teams where everyone’s voice is heard.

What you'll do as Expert Software Engineer

You’ll join one of our product engineering teams, where you’ll take end-to-end ownership of solutions that directly impact our customers and partners. Our teams operate with high autonomy and a strong sense of purpose – we believe the people building the solutions should have a say in how they’re built. Every day brings fresh challenges and opportunities to learn. You might be optimizing critical services, implementing a new feature, or mentoring colleagues. While your tech stack isn’t set in stone yet, expect to be working with Java and Kotlin in a cloud-native environment. In this role you’ll:

  • Design and develop scalable, resilient microservices
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to refine solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage
  • Champion best practices in system design and software engineering
  • Contribute to decisions that help shape our technical landscape
  • Participate in code reviews to share knowledge and ensure quality
  • Help operate the services you build, embracing our DevOps culture

3 reasons why this is (not) for you

  • Lone lion(ess): You prefer to work in isolation; team collaboration is an unnecessary complication
  • Feature factory worker: You're more interested in churning out features than their actual impact
  • Comfort zone dweller: Learning new technologies and adapting to change? That sounds exhausting!
  • Craftsmanship champion: You write code that makes other engineers smile, combining technical experience (8+ years in relevant roles) with a pragmatic mindset
  • Collaborative innovator: You feel at home in settings where ideas are valued for their merit, not their source
  • Continuous developer: You see every challenge as a learning opportunity and aren't afraid to venture beyond your comfort zone

This is where you'll work

Join a tech community that’s reinventing retail through continuous innovation. You’ll work alongside passionate engineers who believe in autonomy, continuous learning, and the power of diverse perspectives. Our modern office in Utrecht feels more like a tech campus than a corporate HQ, complete with game rooms and a soccer field. While we take our mission seriously, we keep our culture light and collaborative – because we believe the best solutions come from teams that enjoy working together.

We take pride in our B Corp certification and strive for continuous improvement every day. Our annual bonus is tied to sustainability goals, and we are committed to equality and equal opportunities for all.

Perks of having a blue heart

Flexible working

The culture and the office

Our colleagues work hard to make the daily lives of our customers easier and more fun. But of course, we do this in an inspiring and creative environment!
