How will you future-proof our logistics chain?

How do you make our customers happy?

By future-proofing the logistics backbone of bol. With peaks of 20 orders per second, 13.5 million customers, and an evolving partner network, thinking ahead is crucial. To ensure we can keep fulfilling our logistics promises as our order volume continues to grow, we must continuously optimize and renew our logistics chain. In harmony with bol’s future overarching strategy, and developing customer needs and social priorities.

What you’ll do as a Consultant Logistics Strategy

You’ll focus on hypothesis-driven working. Not as a solo effort, but in collaboration with colleague consultants and analysts. With ‘strong together’ as your motto, you’ll translate strategic topics into goal-oriented analyses. And you’ll develop concrete proposals that you – and your colleagues – can hand off to the organization for execution.

As a valued member of the Logistics Strategy Team (10 professionals), you’ll work on large strategic projects, together with internal and external consultants and project managers. Projects with substantial impact, as they address how we can make our entire logistics chain more efficient, scalable, and (by extension) future-proof.

Logistics propositions, warehouses, distribution, returns, and logistic network management are all in scope. A complex arena with ample opportunities to create synergy, particularly when you consider bol is a driven pioneer in logistics and that we meticulously embed technological innovations in our working processes. The Logistics Strategy Team takes a long-term perspective (10+ years), so this role will vigorously test your strategic prowess, analytical talent, and conceptual skills.

  • Align project stakeholders
  • Facilitate broadly supported decision making
  • Scope and manage logistics issues in relation to corporate strategy
  • Conduct analyses and present persuasive findings
  • Translate results into recommendations and/or innovations
  • Analyze topics autonomously yourself, the analysts on the team will gladly assist with model results

Why you can make the difference

Because you combine experience with tackling strategic issues with the drive to translate abstract ideas into concrete plans of action. You also initiate and accelerate these actions. You succeed by virtue of your sense of ownership, self-organizational skills, and talent to generate buy-in and get things done.

You know how to achieve success and get others to see things your way. You are also an accomplished stakeholder manager who can broach any topic with anyone, ask the right questions behind the questions, and frame issues in the larger context. You take a hypothesis-driven approach and can clearly distinguish need-to-haves from nice-to-haves. You feel at ease in a rapidly evolving environment.

3 reasons why this is (not) for you

  • - Stakeholder shy You’re an old-school consultant: you don’t feel an urge to convince stakeholders and spell out opportunities
  • - Why make things easy You have a hard time conveying strategic insights in ‘plain English’
  • - One-way communication You have a world-class ability to present information, but you struggle to receive and process input
  • + Sterling strategist You have 3-5 years of relevant consultancy experience, preferably in a logistics setting
  • + Logistics drive You are convinced that the e-commerce organization with the best logistics operation can convert that edge into a decisive advantage
  • + To-the-point You can think on your feet and have a knack for translating complex, abstract ideas into business cases and investment proposals

This is where you’ll work

You’ll join a team of 10 driven professionals who shape the future of bol’s logistics. We combine the determination of a scale-up with the impact of a market leader.
