How do you make our customers happy?

At bol. we ship about 70 million (yes, you read that right!) packages per year from our physical warehouses, located in Waalwijk, Nieuwegein and Nijmegen. In order to get those packages out of the warehouse in the fastest way possible, we pick and pack all the orders in the most efficient way to hand them over to our carriers and enable on-time delivery to our customers. That is what Customer Order Fulfilment is about: keeping our warehouses running at all times so that we can pick, pack, and hand over all packages to our carriers to meet our customers’ expectations in the most efficient way, for Bol and the planet.

The biggest challenge

Data insights are crucial to measuring the success of our innovations. Experimenting is something we do every day and want to get even better at. We collect a lot of data, but it’s crucial to gain actionable insights to develop better Products for our customers.
However, with large complex datasets and fast-paced innovation, data confusion is not far away. As Expert Product Analyst, you bring deep expertise on (Product) Analytics and combine it with appropriate rigor when it comes to improving the data quality of our Logistics Data Domain. You are the driving force for making things better (with data) every day, based on your expert knowledge!

This is where you’ll land

You’ll be part of the Product Analytics team of Core Logistics and Core Warehousing, a group of 7 Product Analysts. With this group, you work on growing our craftmanship and way of working, so that we can achieve even more together.

With the Lead Product Analyst, you work closely with the Head of Product Core Warehousing and more specifically, the Group Product Manager of Customer Order Fulfillment to drive Product innovation and maximize the value for our customers and internal stakeholders.

In your workweek, you’re combining Product Analytics work for your Grouped Product, driving data improvement projects and mentoring colleagues / driving craft improvements.

You’ll work as Product Analyst for the Customer Order Fulfilment product group, which is part of the Core Warehousing area and the Core2 domain. Customer Order Fulfilment consists of 2 product teams (Outbound Processing and Outbound Steering). There are a lot of touchpoints and synergies between the Customer Order Fulfilment products and other teams in Core Warehousing and Core2, so you will definitely be collaborating with people outside of your direct teams. The environment is open, inclusive, and informal. We encourage proactivity, critical thinking, creativity, and constructive feedback.

What you’ll do as an Expert Product Analyst in Core Warehousing

You’ll combine your work as Product Analyst for our Customer Outbound Fulfillment Grouped Product (within the Core Warehousing Product Area) with driving projects to improve the quality of the data within our Data Domain. An example of this would be running a project that extracts new & improved data from our Warehouses into our bol data toolstack (BigQuery, dbt, Tableau and Looker Studio), together with an external team.

As Expert Product Analyst Warehousing you have (or develop) in-depth knowledge of the Logistics & Warehousing Data Domain and at least 5-10+ years of experience in the field of analytics.

  • You distinguish yourself by excelling in 1 or more of the core competencies of Product Analytics (product data expert, experimentation, data quality, data storytelling, data literacy).
  • You are (or becoming) the subject matter expert in the domain for questions regarding tables, definitions, naming conventions and business logic.
  • You are an advocate for working data-driven, and actively mentor other Product roles within your domain to increase the overall analytical maturity.
  • You share your craft expertise: mentoring Product Analytics colleagues. And you are one of the driving forces for knowledge sharing activities for the core pillar/skill you are an expert on.
  • You partner with (grouped) product managers, engineers, and business leads to shape product team plans and influence strategic direction based on data-driven insights.
  • You work closely with both the Data, Analytics & AI organization and your Product Area (Core Warehousing), helping stakeholders understand the impact of decisions and guiding them toward evidence-based solutions.
  • You take the lead in domain wide or cross domain analytical projects covering multiple (external) teams.
  • As an expert in the field, you are well informed in industry best practices and emerging trends and you participate actively in the broader analytics community to bring innovative ideas and fresh perspectives back to the team.

What doesn’t fit this role

  • You’re not a fan of stakeholders. If you consider stakeholder management a necessary evil, this is not your ideal position.
  • Product Led? Are we talking about Led Zeppelin merchandise?
  • Gimme that timeline. If you don’t know exactly what projects you’ll be working on for the next 6 months, you get very, very anxious indeed. You prefer a clear cut plan presented to you. A matrix organization doesn’t work for you.

What makes you a great fit

  • Product Analytics holds no secrets for you. Your track record delivers the goods: you were a senior member of a data team (analytics, data science, data engineering, or BI) at a product-led company, live and breathe analytics, and love to experiment.
  • Improving the data landscape gives you energy. You have a sharp view on quality of data and are not afraid to drive improvements.
  • Proactivity is your middle name. You don’t wait for requests to land in your inbox; you proactively analyze the data for opportunities and can bring your own ideas and improvements to the table.
