Former interns reflect on their journeys
“I had a simple reason to return to Databricks after my internship: I knew I’d get to do exciting, technically challenging and impactful work here. Every day, I get to work with coworkers who truly raise the technical bar to build new and innovative systems, and my engineering skills have grown immensely as a result.”
Clara MacAvoy (Engineer)
“If I had to pick one word to describe my experience at Databricks: limitless. On a company level, we’re helping customers use their data and AI to solve the toughest problems across any industry, ranging from education to agricultural systems. On a personal level, there’s no shortage of opportunities to excel and nobody here is off limits to learn from — not even the co-founders!”
Archika Dogra (Engineer)
“Moving from college to the workplace, you realize nothing falls into perfect test cases. From intern to new grad to now, I’ve learned from my brilliant teammates to think through ambiguity, adapt to edge cases and execute all that expeditiously.”
Kathy Lee (Engineer)
“I’ve grown so much as an engineer at Databricks. I get to work on challenging projects, and I can always count on support from my team. The mentorship from leaders is incredible.”
Siddharth Gupta (Engineer)
“The people, hands down, make Databricks a special place. People across the company are both super sharp and super welcoming. We work on some really challenging technical problems and it’s awesome that we have an open and collaborative learning community to help. I can ask questions to any person at the company about the domain they work on and I’ll learn a lot from their detailed, actionable response and/or ensuing discussion!”
Deepayan Patra (Engineer)

When do you start hiring early career professionals?
The majority of our global interviews take place in line with local academic calendars, typically opening applications in August. We hire on a rolling basis, so we recommend applying as early as possible!
How do you prioritize mentorship and support?
Each intern or new grad will have ample support to ensure their success at Databricks. Interns will have both a manager and mentor who are responsible for creating a detailed project plan and onboarding plan before their intern joins. New grads will be assigned an onboarding buddy in addition to their manager, and this person will help them ramp up the first six months and beyond.
Where are most intern and early career programs based?
We host interns and new grads in many of our hub offices, including San Francisco, Mountain View, Bellevue, Amsterdam, Berlin, Belgrade and Bangalore.
How long are Databricks internships?
Most internships are either 12 or 16 weeks.
