Introduction to the job

Are you driven by the challenge of enhancing the quality of complex, cutting-edge lithography systems? Do you naturally question assumptions and seek evidence-based answers? Are you looking for a role where you can apply your problem-solving, reliability engineering, organizational, and communication skills in a dynamic, cross-sector environment?

If so, this opportunity within the Development & Engineering – Performance & Integration Reliability group might be the perfect fit. We are looking for a Quality Engineer RCA/RGA specializing in Complex Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability Growth Analysis (RGA).

  • Location: Veldhoven, Netherlands
  • Team: Quality
  • Work experience: 4-9 years
  • Educational background: Other technical backgrounds
  • Workplace type: Hybrid
  • Fulltime/parttime: Full time

Job Mission

As a Complex RCA/RGA Engineer, you will work alongside a team of professionals to analyze and improve the quality of serviceable parts. Your mission is to drive quality improvements by investigating field issues and applying your expertise in:

  • Reliability Growth
  • Root Cause Analysis

Your work will span the entire lifecycle of serviceable parts, enabling both corrective and preventive actions and contributing to cross-sector process improvements. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Development & Engineering (D&E), Customer Support, Supply Chain, Quality, Logistics, and Manufacturing.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead and support investigations into failed parts or modules using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D.
  • Reliability Growth Analysis (RGA): Apply reliability growth techniques to address lifetime-related business questions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with project leads, engineers, and management across multiple departments to ensure alignment and drive improvements.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, or Physics.
  • Green Belt – Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) certification required. Experience with DMAIC projects is a plus.
  • Have 5+ years of relevant experience in complex, technically driven organizations.
  • Demonstrate a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement, with proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Possess expertise in reliability modeling, including Weibull and Crow-AMSAA analysis. Familiarity with Bayesian principles is a plus.
  • Have experience in statistical engineering and advanced data analytics tools/languages (e.g., Python, KNIME, MATLAB, Minitab).
  • Are familiar with working on trusted datasets (e.g., PMA, SAP); ASML experience is a significant advantage.
  • Show interest or experience in applying AI/ML tools in RCA and RGA contexts.
  • Have a broad perspective across design, qualification, manufacturing, logistics, and service domains.

Skills

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, even without formal authority.
  • Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to work with incomplete or unstructured life data.
  • Effective team player with solid presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset.

Other information

This role is part of the Robust Design DUV group within Development & Engineering (D&E). The team focuses on driving quality across the product lifecycle through methodologies such as FMEA, SPC, Replaceable Parts Definition, Reliability Growth, RCA, and modeling. These efforts are supported by a feedback loop that enables continuous learning and improvement.
