ABN AMRO plays a vital role in society. Clients and society expect us to deliver stable and secure solutions while protecting their interests. As part of vital infrastructure, we have a responsibility to remain resilient, respond decisively to threats and keep critical services available.

As a Cyber Security Risk Consultant, you help senior stakeholders understand complex cyber risks and make well-informed decisions. You combine analytical rigour with strong communication, storylining and presentation skills. You may build depth in a topic such as Identity and Access Management, while also working across teams to create consistent, senior-level messaging on the bank’s cyber risk posture.

Your job

You will join the Cyber Security Risk team within the CRO IT & Cyber function. In this second-line role, you monitor and challenge cyber security risks, structure ambiguous questions and turn evidence into clear narratives and practical recommendations. You work independently on defined assignments and collaborate closely with subject-matter experts across risk, security, technology and the business.

You will:

  • Structure cyber risk questions and develop fact-based storylines for decision-making;
  • Prepare concise, high-quality presentations, briefings and risk opinions for senior stakeholders and governance forums;
  • Support independent assessments and thematic deep dives, potentially with a focus on Identity and Access Management or another cyber domain;
  • Challenge and advise first-line teams on risk posture, controls, remediation plans and risk acceptances;
  • Connect insights across teams and help create consistent messages on cyber risk, priorities and progress;
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative information, identify recurring themes and translate them into practical improvement actions;
  • Build trusted relationships while maintaining an independent and constructive second-line perspective;
  • Contribute to team-wide methods, templates and ways of working.

  • Excellent storylining and visualisation / writing skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure complex or ambiguous problems;
  • Working knowledge of cyber security governance, controls and risk-management principles;
  • A collaborative, hands-on mindset and the ability to deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines;
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and/or English.

Preferred

  • Experience in strategy, management or cyber security consulting;
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management or another cyber security domain;
  • Familiarity with cloud security, digital operational resilience, regulatory expectations or IT control frameworks;
  • Experience in banking or another highly regulated environment.
