At Basic-Fit, Finance is moving onto our central Databricks platform. As the Forward Deployed Engineer for Finance, you’ll be the data engineer dedicated to this team: close to the business, and building to the same standards as the rest of our platform.

• Location: Hoofddorp
• Time type: Full time
• Work Culture: An informal, international, and down-to-earth environment. We value working together, so we work 4 days in the office, 1 day from home.
• A monthly gross salary between €3.500 and €5.300 based on 40 hours, depending on your experience and background.

This Is What Your Role Looks Like

You’ll join the Data Platform Team as the Forward Deployed Engineer for Finance. Instead of building one capability for many teams, you focus on one business domain: you spend part of your time embedded with Finance, learning their workflows and constraints, and the rest with the Data Platform Team. You report into Data Platform and build and run everything end to end, following our standards for coding, security and governance.

In a typical week, you might:

• build and run the ingestion of financial data from sources such as SAP into Databricks
• ensure the quality of ingested data through validation, reconciliation and monitoring (source data stays with its owners)
• rebuild and modernise existing finance data solutions on Databricks
• model financial data so it is consistent, documented and easy to use
• work with Finance to understand how they use data and make sure the platform fits
• run your solutions in production to our engineering standards
• use AI to speed up engineering and documentation work

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary Data Platform Team with:

• Data Platform Engineers
• Analysts
• BI Developers
• Data Scientists

Together, you support almost every department at Basic-Fit, enabling teams to act on reliable, well-governed data, with you as the dedicated data engineer for Finance.

Who Are You?

You’re curious, pragmatic, and good at understanding what a team really needs. You don’t need to tick every box. You will thrive here if most of this sounds familiar:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with hands-on Databricks and Spark experience
• Experience working with financial data (e.g. SAP, ledgers, reconciliations) and a good understanding of finance processes
• Experience building and running ingestion pipelines from business systems, APIs and files
• Experience with data quality: validation, reconciliation and monitoring. You care about the numbers being right
• Experience with CI/CD, version control and secure engineering practices
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders, and comfortable splitting your time between a business team and a central team
• Curiosity about the newest Databricks features and how they can help Finance
• Excellent communication skills in English
