ABN AMRO Group Strategy is seeking a Head of Strategy Consulting (m/f/x) to lead this team and help shape the bank’s future. Group Strategy is ABN AMRO’s internal strategy consulting department. It delivers enterprise-wide strategic projects for the Client Units, Functions and Subsidiaries, enabling the bank to anticipate fundamental shifts in the financial industry and evolving customer expectations. The team is part of the Strategy & Transformation unit, which reports directly to ABN AMRO’s CEO.

Your job

As Head of Strategy Consulting, you will lead the project portfolio and people agenda for a team of approximately ten generalist consultants within Group Strategy. Your key responsibilities are to:

• Shape ABN AMRO’s strategic agenda with the Head of Group Strategy, in alignment with the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer and specialist strategists
• Lead a portfolio of concurrent strategic projects, setting direction, ensuring analytical rigour and securing senior sponsorship
• Advise and influence senior stakeholders within and outside ABN AMRO, translating complex strategic questions into clear, actionable recommendations
• Deploy the team against the bank’s highest-priority strategic questions, balancing business needs, team capacity, required capabilities and individual development
• Attract, recruit, coach and develop strategy consultants at every level

The team’s typical assignments include:

• Define ABN AMRO’s near- and long-term vision and develop value-creating strategies informed by external perspectives, market trends and capability assessments
• Support the Executive Board in reviewing and prioritising the strategic agenda across the bank, in cooperation with the Strategy Execution & Implementation and Strategic Portfolio Management teams
• Identify cross-entity value-creation opportunities by assessing performance, outlook and improvement potential across units, countries and subsidiaries
• Evaluate inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A, partnerships and innovative initiatives that can generate new sources of fee income over the longer term
• Develop and deliver clear, consistent strategy narratives for internal and external stakeholders

Working environment

Within Group Strategy, you will engage directly with the Executive Board and senior leaders across ABN AMRO and have a mandate to shape the bank-wide strategic project agenda. You will collaborate closely with specialist strategists and transformation leaders while building a high-performing consulting team. The role provides a broad view of ABN AMRO and its position in the banking landscape, as well as a potential pathway to wider leadership roles across the bank.

Your knowledge and experience:

• Excellent academic track record; Master’s degree with a quantitative component preferred
• A minimum of 6 years of experience at a Top Tier strategy consulting firm, and preferably experience in Financial Services
• Deep understanding of Strategy Consulting, Strategic Management, and Project management
• Understanding of the impact and opportunities of Tech & AI
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with project leadership
• Experience with recruiting, leading, coaching, developing, and training junior/medior (strategy) professionals
• Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken
• Ability to understand Dutch
