IDEXX is looking for Senior Internal Audit Consultant, Data & AI-Enabled Assurance (EMEA & APO) to join our Global Internal Audit team, providing financial and operational assurance across the EMEA and APO regions. You will use data analytics and AI-enabled workflows as your default way of working to evaluate controls and give management timely, risk-based insight. You will have broad exposure across the company and the chance to help shape how Internal Audit works.

  • Location: Hoofddorp HQ, NL.
  • This is a hybrid role based out of our Hoofddorp office location, with a minimum of eight days a month on-site.

Internal Audit adds value by promoting effective control at reasonable cost. We combine auditor judgment with analytics, automation, and AI, so that assurance is faster, broader, and more predictive than traditional sample-based audit. We identify risks, review processes, highlight significant issues and deviations from policies and best practices, and recommend improvements to the control environment, with a focus on root cause and forward-looking risk.

You will help IDEXX achieve its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined, and technology-enabled approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

The Senior Internal Audit Consultant reports to the Associate Director, EMEA & APO, Cyber and IT Operations

Why this role matters

You will be a key contributor to the financial success of IDEXX, support business growth, and ultimately contribute to better outcomes for animals’ health.

In this Role

  • You will evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of financial and operational controls in accordance with the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, using data-driven, risk-based approaches.
  • You will design, build, and maintain analytics and automation (for example SQL, Python, and BI tools) for continuous auditing, continuous monitoring, anomaly detection, and full-population testing, with full-population testing as the default and manual sampling the exception. You will own the full pipeline, from ERP data extraction to documented, reusable, version-controlled results.
  • You will use generative and agentic AI to accelerate risk assessment, process and document analysis, test design, workpaper preparation, and report drafting. You will design prompts and AI workflows, validate outputs for accuracy, bias, and confidentiality, apply human oversight, and document results to audit-quality standards.
  • You will assess controls over traditional business processes as well as AI-enabled and automated processes, including model governance, data quality and lineage, access, and third-party AI risk.
  • You will partner with audit stakeholders to identify constructive, value-added solutions to issues and recommend operational improvements that strengthen controls and protect Company assets.
  • You will advise business process owners during process redesign and system transformation (for example ERP and automation initiatives) on embedding effective, automated controls that balance risk mitigation against cost of control.
  • You will help optimize the Internal Control Framework by aligning significant risks to control objectives and controls, and ensure controls are tested efficiently, using automation and control monitoring where possible.
  • You will cover special projects, including ad-hoc management requests, and investigations using forensic analytics where appropriate.
  • You will prepare clear, insight-led audit reports and dashboards, and present results to management at all levels, focusing on root cause, forward-looking risk, and value-added recommendations.
  • You will help identify operational efficiencies in Internal Audit that save money or time, and contribute to improving the audit methodology, tooling, and operating model, including reusable analytics assets and AI workflows.

You will visit some of the regional offices, laboratories, warehouses, or manufacturing locations. The role therefore requires some travel, usually less than 15%.

What you will need to succeed

Required

  • You have 5+ years in public accounting, corporate Internal Audit, or a comparable finance, data, or transformation role, with demonstrable experience in financial and operational audits and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • You have proven experience building analytics end-to-end, using SQL and Python or equivalent tools, plus a BI tool such as Power BI, and can move from raw, unstructured data to defensible conclusions. Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • You have practical experience using generative AI tools in your work, and you understand their limits, risks, and governance requirements.
  • You have deep knowledge of US GAAP and solid knowledge of standard business processes (Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, etc.).
  • You demonstrate critical thinking, professional skepticism, and the ability to form pragmatic conclusions from diverse, often unstructured and complex information. You are curious about the “why,” and committed to lifelong learning as audit technology evolves. This is what separates good from great in this role.
  • You communicate clearly, collaborate well within Internal Audit and with business stakeholders, and are comfortable presenting to groups of all sizes and levels. English is essential.
  • You manage your time well, balance multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • You work accurately and independently, hold high ethical standards, and bring a positive attitude.

Preferred

  • You have built or deployed AI agents, automation, or low-code solutions that replaced a manual process.
  • You have experience with cloud data platforms, process mining, or continuous controls monitoring tools.
  • You hold professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, or CISA, or AI governance and data credentials (for example AIGP or a Power BI, Azure, or AWS data certification).
  • One or more additional languages are a plus (German, French, Italian, Mandarin, or Japanese).

What you can expect from us

  • Eligibility for annual bonus.
  • On the job training & career advancement opportunities.
  • Additional benefits include, but not limited to gym benefits, wellness resources, volunteer paid days off, bike plan, and much more.
  • 27 days holiday per year.
  • Pension contribution percentage paid by IDEXX.
