About this role

Data is at the heart of how Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET) serves customers, supports partners and drives business decisions. As we continue to evolve our data and AI capabilities, we’re looking for a Global Director of Data & AI Governance and Foundations to shape how data is governed, trusted and used responsibly across our global organisation.

Reporting directly to the VP Data & Analytics, you’ll lead our enterprise-wide data and AI governance strategy, data product standards and data strategy and change portfolio. Working closely with Technology, Product, Legal, InfoSec and business leaders, you’ll define the frameworks and standards that enable teams to innovate with confidence, while ensuring our data and AI practices remain secure, high-quality and compliant.

This is a critical leadership role where you’ll set the direction for data governance across JET’s markets and domains, partnering with our Platform team to translate standards into scalable solutions. We’re looking for someone who can live our behaviours of Lead, Deliver and Care, challenge the status quo and bring people together to create lasting business impact.

These are some of the key components to the position:

• Set the direction – Define and evolve JET’s enterprise data and AI governance strategy, establishing clear frameworks, standards and controls that enable trusted, responsible innovation across the business.

• Lead through collaboration – Partner with Technology, Product, Legal, InfoSec and business leaders to embed governance into platforms, products and operational processes, building shared accountability across teams and markets.

• Champion responsible AI – Establish AI governance frameworks covering model risk, training data quality, bias, explainability, lineage and Generative AI, ensuring AI is used safely, ethically and responsibly.

• Raise the bar on data quality – Define enterprise-wide data quality standards, stewardship practices and monitoring requirements so that data used for business decisions and AI systems is accurate, complete and trusted.

• Build for reuse – Establish clear standards for data products, ownership, lifecycle management and data contracts, enabling teams to share trusted, consistent data while reducing duplication across domains.

• Shape our data strategy – Work with senior leadership to prioritise data initiatives based on business value, evolve our operating model and measure the return on our data investments.

• Turn standards into action – Define the requirements for governance tooling, metadata management, data lineage and automated controls, partnering with the Platform team to determine what good looks like and enable scalable implementation.

• Drive adoption and change – Lead initiatives that embed data-driven behaviours across JET, building a strong data community and developing data literacy and capabilities across different teams and markets.

• Protect our data ecosystem – Establish policies and standards that support regulatory compliance, including GDPR, CCPA and the EU AI Act, while defining governance expectations for third-party data providers and AI vendors.

• Lead and develop your team – Build a high-performing team with a culture of trust, accountability, transparency and continuous improvement, developing the capabilities needed to keep JET ahead of emerging data and AI challenges.

What will you bring to the team?

• Extensive experience across data governance, data management, data product management and enterprise data strategy, with a strong understanding of how to scale these capabilities in complex organisations.

• Demonstrable experience in AI governance, responsible AI or machine learning governance, including the ability to establish frameworks for model risk, data provenance and Generative AI.

• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality, metadata management, lineage, stewardship and data contracts, including their application across modern data and AI environments.

• A solid understanding of data privacy and AI regulation, including GDPR, CCPA and the EU AI Act, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical governance standards.

• Experience shaping enterprise data strategies and federated governance models across multiple markets, business domains and technology environments.

• The ability to influence senior stakeholders across Technology, Product, Legal and business functions, bringing people together around a shared vision and clear priorities.

• Experience defining requirements for governance tooling, data catalogues, data quality platforms and AI-assisted automation, with an understanding of modern data architectures and cloud environments.

• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to prioritise initiatives based on business value, measure outcomes and demonstrate the impact of data investments.

• Experience establishing governance standards for third-party data partnerships and AI/ML vendors, balancing innovation, security, privacy and regulatory risk.

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams, embracing change and translating complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes. You take ownership, welcome challenges and help others succeed.
