Global Digital Product Owner, R&D

Job Description

The Global Digital Product Owner, R&D is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the global portfolio of digital products and applications supporting Research & Development. The role acts as the primary interface between R&D and Digital & Technology, ensuring product strategies, roadmaps, and priorities deliver measurable business outcomes across product development, laboratory operations, quality compliance, innovation management, and knowledge-sharing capabilities. Working closely with business leaders, users, and technology teams, the role balances innovation opportunities, regulatory obligations, lifecycle management, and operational performance. The Global Digital Product Owner drives alignment between business needs and technology capabilities while ensuring adoption and sustainable value realization across the portfolio. Success is measured through business value delivery, product adoption, operational performance, and the continuous improvement of the R&D digital landscape.

• Shape and maintain the integrated R&D digital product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with R&D strategy, enterprise priorities, and long-term portfolio objectives.
• Own and prioritize the product portfolio and backlog, making decisions based on business value, user impact, regulatory requirements, cost, risk, and dependencies.
• Collaborate with R&D stakeholders, Business Process Owners, users, and delivery teams to translate business needs into clear product requirements, features, and priorities.
• Drive delivery and release planning across agile and hybrid delivery environments, coordinating dependencies and ensuring successful adoption of new capabilities.
• Use business metrics, operational insights, and user feedback to improve product quality, user experience, and portfolio performance.
• Promote continuous improvement through application rationalization, process harmonization, data quality enhancement, compliance management, and innovation across the R&D application landscape.

For this role as a Global Digital Product Owner, R&D, we’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

• University degree in business, R&D, science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in product strategy, requirements management, process ownership, product management, or technology-enabled business transformation.
• Strong understanding of R&D business processes and digital solutions supporting product development, innovation management, quality, laboratory operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to translate business objectives and user needs into product roadmaps, priorities, measurable outcomes, and business value.
• Experience applying product management and agile methodologies in complex delivery environments and balancing competing priorities and dependencies.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology functions.
