Senior Software Engineer — Delft
Build software that keeps critical maritime operations moving.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and evolve in the in-house applications that support our business-critical operations across onshore data centers, public cloud environments, and our remote offshore fleet.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll take ownership of complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural decisions, and deliver reliable software across distributed and edge environments where network connectivity can be limited.
Your role
You will take ownership of software throughout its lifecycle - from the first lines of code through deployment, monitoring, and operation in production.
You will:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust software;
- Work across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and release automation to deliver complete solutions;
- Contribute to architectural decisions and apply sound engineering principles to solve complex problems;
- Build reliable software for distributed and network-constrained environments;
- Contribute to improving our development practices, tooling, automation, and developer experience;
- Work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party development partners to deliver effective solutions;
- Manage and coordinate third-party developers and development activities, providing technical direction and ensuring delivery meets our architectural, security, quality, and engineering standards;
- Review and challenge external designs and implementations and ensure they integrate effectively with our systems;
- Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
What we expect from you
You are motivated by automation, innovation, and continuous improvement. You learn quickly, embrace new technologies, and are comfortable working in an environment where technology and priorities evolve.
You take ownership of outcomes rather than simply completing assigned tasks.
You understand that delivering software means more than writing code - it includes testing, security, deployment, monitoring, and ensuring the solution continues to work reliably in production.
You have experience with:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of professional experience.
- Software design: SOLID, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and appropriate design patterns.
- Testing: TDD, BDD, automated testing, and quality-focused development.
- APIs & communication: HTTP, gRPC, Protobuf, and OpenAPI.
- Databases: PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Messaging: NATS and event-driven architectures.
- Security: OpenID Connect, JWT, encryption, and secure software development.
- Delivery & operations: CI/CD, GitOps, observability, and automation.
- Platforms: Docker and Kubernetes.
- Programming: Go, Python, and TypeScript.
You are comfortable moving between application code, infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational concerns rather than working within a single technical silo.
What we offer
If you enjoy building software, solving complex engineering problems, working across the technology stack, and seeing your work operate in the real world, this is an opportunity to make a direct impact on critical maritime operations.
Join us and help build the software that keeps our operations moving - from the data center to the cloud and all the way to the edge.
You can expect:
- Competitive industry-benchmarked salary and an excellent pension scheme.
- Performance-based salary increases and bonuses.
- 30 holiday days per year and flexible working hours.
- Extensive training and development programmes, study budgets and coaching.
- An international working environment with committed professional colleagues.
- Internal clubs, committees, parties and sporting events.
An online personality questionnaire may be part of the selection process.
As part of our hiring process, candidates for IT positions are required to obtain a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG). The screening process will be initiated upon acceptance of an offer and must be successfully completed before the start of employment.
If you enjoy solving problems, taking responsibility and working on projects where no two days are the same, you will find plenty of opportunities here.
