Want to help shape the future of Financial Markets? This is your opportunity.

During the Financial Markets Tribe internship programme, you will gain hands-on experience in one of the teams that builds, runs, and continuously improves ING’s Financial Markets business. You will contribute from day one in a dynamic, international environment at the intersection of markets, clients, products, data, technology, risk, and operations.

  • Internship - Financial Markets Tribe
  • Trainee
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Full-time experience of 6 to 10 months
  • The start of the programme is flexible
  • ING Bank

About ING

Every ING colleague is given the opportunity to contribute to ING’s vision. We champion self-reliance and foster a collaborative and innovative culture. The Orange Code consists of ING Values (we are honest; we are prudent; we are responsible) and ING Behaviours: (you take it on and make it happen; you help others to be successful; you are always a step ahead).

The opportunity

Our Financial Markets Tribe internship programme is a full-time experience of 6 to 10 months with a steep learning curve. You will join the Pricing Core team, with opportunities to learn from or contribute to related teams across the tribe. The programme gives you a broad understanding of how Financial Markets serves clients and how ideas are translated into reliable, scalable solutions.

From day one, you will work on meaningful assignments, receive guidance from experienced colleagues, and take part in learning and networking activities that provide insight into different parts of Financial Markets and ING.

About Financial Markets (FM)

Financial Markets (FM) is part of ING Wholesale Banking. It combines client coverage, markets expertise, product capabilities, data, technology, quantitative modelling, risk management, and operational support to serve clients across regions and asset classes.

FM helps clients access markets, manage financial risks, raise funding, invest, and execute transactions. Within the Financial Markets Tribe, teams across product, Front Office, quantitative modelling, engineering, data, risk, and operations work together to improve the end-to-end journeys that support pricing and transaction execution. As an intern, you will see how client and business priorities are translated into tribe objectives, prioritised backlogs, and controlled, resilient, and scalable solutions.

Possible CJE internship focus areas

Your assignment will be matched to your strengths and interests and will reflect the work of a Customer Journey Expert (CJE) in the tribe. You could help identify stakeholder and user needs, analyse an end-to-end journey or process, translate insights into clear requirements, support prioritisation and delivery, and help ensure that solutions are adopted and deliver measurable value.

Potential CJE activities include:

  • Customer and stakeholder needs: gathering input from users and stakeholders, analysing pain points, and clarifying the outcomes to be achieved
  • Journey, process, and requirement analysis: mapping current ways of working, identifying improvements, and translating needs into clear requirements, user stories, or acceptance criteria
  • Delivery and collaboration: supporting backlog refinement and prioritisation, coordinating with product, technology, data, quantitative, risk, and operational colleagues, and tracking actions, dependencies, and risks
  • Validation and adoption: helping test solutions, collecting feedback, preparing communications or guidance, and monitoring whether the change delivers the intended business and user outcomes
  • Working across the Financial Markets value chain

Successful Financial Markets solutions depend on close collaboration between commercial, product, technology, data, quantitative, risk, and operational teams. Your internship may sit within one discipline, but you will learn how decisions and deliveries connect across the wider tribe.

What you will gain

You will gain practical experience in a complex, fast-moving business, build your understanding of financial markets, and develop skills in analysis, communication, collaboration, and delivery. You will also have the opportunity to connect with colleagues from different disciplines and explore where your interests could take you within ING.

About you. Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for a curious and driven intern who brings:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree, or enrolment in the final year of a bachelor’s programme
  • Registration at a Dutch university for the duration of the internship
  • A strong interest in financial markets and in how business, products, data, technology, risk, and operations work together
  • English proficiency
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, collaborative, and professional attitude
  • The ability to analyse problems, learn quickly, and turn ideas into practical contributions
  • Numerical, analytical, technical, coding, or process-improvement skills relevant to your preferred area
  • The ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Internship allowance of 700 EUR based on a 36 hours work week
  • Your own work laptop
  • Hybrid working to blend home working for focus and office working for collaboration and co-creation
  • Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities
  • An informal working environment with innovative colleagues

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
