About the role

Are you energized by accurate HR administration, efficient processes, and providing excellent support to employees? Do you enjoy working on both payroll and HR administration, as well as the practical aspects of employee onboarding, development, and offboarding? If so, we would love to hear from you.

As an HR Operations Specialist, you will ensure that our day-to-day HR operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will play a key role in connecting employees, HR, Finance, and external partners such as our payroll provider. While your primary focus will be our Zoetermeer office, you will work closely with HR colleagues based in Utrecht and Amsterdam.

Are you excited about a role where you not only develop ideas but also bring them to life?

Why Highberg?

At Highberg, everything revolves around people. Around colleagues who want to make a difference, take ownership, and work together based on trust and craftsmanship. We believe real change happens when strategy, execution, and humanity come together. That starts with our own team. This is why we create an environment where you can continue to grow, apply your expertise, and expand it further. An environment where you can make lasting impact.

Bringing strategy to life

At Highberg, you are not a remote advisor. You work closely with clients on challenges that truly matter, from strategy through to implementation. This allows you to make an immediate impact and see the results of your work in practice.

Collaborative, human, and professional

We work closely together, share knowledge, and strengthen one another to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our culture is open and built on trust, with room for both ambition and humanity. We listen, celebrate successes, and hold each other accountable, always with attention to people as well as to quality.

European outlook, locally rooted

With teams in the Netherlands and the DACH region, you work in an organization with a broad, European perspective. At the same time, the culture remains personal and close-knit. This gives you the opportunity to collaborate internationally at a high level, within a committed and engaged team.

Culture as a catalyst

Our culture is a key reason why colleagues enjoy working at Highberg. We place trust in our people, value initiative, and believe it is important that everyone can continue to develop. This enables you to get the best out of yourself, while together contributing to sustainable growth.

Your role as HR Operations Specialist

You will be responsible for a broad range of operational HR activities. From welcoming a new colleague and managing salary changes to contract extensions and employee offboarding, you ensure that all related administrative and practical processes are handled accurately and efficiently.

In practice, this means that one moment you may be preparing payroll information, the next arranging a lease car for an employee, and later ensuring that everything is ready for a new colleague’s first day.

As an HR Operations Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • HR Administration: You prepare employment contracts and other HR documents, process contract amendments, and monitor important deadlines within our HR systems. You maintain and update absence and leave administration records.
  • Payroll Administration: You process monthly payroll changes, ensure all required information is submitted accurately and on time to our external payroll provider, and act as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: You coordinate the operational aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding and ensure that company assets such as laptops, mobile phones, and lease cars are arranged on time for both new and existing colleagues.
  • HR Data & Reporting: You provide periodic HR reports and insights on employee inflow and outflow, absenteeism, and other relevant HR metrics. You do not need to be a data analyst, but you enjoy working with data and ensuring that information is accurate, reliable, up to date, and readily available.

Who are you?

  • You work accurately and in a structured manner while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach.
  • You enjoy creating order and organization and take initiative when you see that something needs to be done.
  • You are able to prioritize effectively while managing multiple topics and deadlines simultaneously.
  • You have a service-oriented mindset and communicate easily with employees, colleagues, and external suppliers.

What do we ask?

  • You have a completed Bachelor’s degree (HBO level), preferably in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • You have several years of experience in HR Operations, HR Administration, or a similar HR role.
  • You are available for at least 32 hours per week and the ability to work on-site in our Zoetermeer office (occasional remote work can be discussed).
  • You are experienced with payroll and absence administration, and have a strong eye for detail.
  • You have experience drafting and processing employment contracts, contract amendments, and other employee-related changes.
  • You are proficient with HR systems and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and a good command of English.

What do we offer?

  • Attractive and comprehensive employment conditions: a competitive gross monthly salary ranging from €3,000 to €4,750, excluding holiday allowance. Complemented by paid leave, mobility options, and a pension scheme.
  • The best of two worlds: the intellectual sharpness and quality of a high end consultancy firm, combined with the agility and engagement of an entrepreneurial organization.
  • Responsibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurship: you will have a high level of ownership over your work and a direct impact on how employees experience our HR services. You will play a broad and important role in ensuring that our day-to-day HR operations run smoothly and effectively.
  • An open and accessible environment: you will work in an organization where decision-making is close to the business and good ideas can quickly become reality. Because you are involved in almost the entire employee lifecycle, you will gain valuable insight into what is happening across the organization.
  • Collaboration with a strong sense of connection: We actively seek opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge, and connect through team activities, inspiring sessions, and events such as the Highberg Festival!
