Allseas is looking for a Senior Network Engineer in Delft to define, design and modernise our global network architecture across offices, data centres, cloud platforms and offshore vessels.

This senior role focuses on scalable, secure and resilient vessel connectivity, where constrained satellite bandwidth, variable latency, dynamic WAN paths and limited physical access require architecture-level thinking and robust remote operability.

Your role

You act as a technical authority for Cisco-based network architecture, covering routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, firewall, Cisco FMC-managed security services and multi-provider WAN connectivity.
You set design standards, guide technology choices and support modernisation through Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco ISE, Cisco FMC, resilient wireless, automation, telemetry, configuration standardisation and central lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

  • Define network architecture, standards and design patterns for Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, wireless, SD-WAN and Cisco FMC-managed firewall platforms;
  • Architect resilient multi-provider vessel WAN connectivity using VSAT, LTE/5G, Internet and port-based links with dynamic routing, failover, segmentation and QoS;
  • Design secure end-to-end segmentation for OT systems, corporate IT, crew services, guest networks and third-party access using VLANs, VRFs, ACLs, firewall policies, VPNs and identity-aware access;
  • Lead technical decision-making for network modernisation, automation, lifecycle management, monitoring and operational resilience;
  • Review complex changes, validate designs, mentor engineers and provide expert guidance during projects, incidents and root-cause investigations;
  • Maintain architecture documentation, reference designs, implementation standards, recovery procedures and technology roadmaps.

What we expect from you

You are a senior network professional with architecture-level Cisco expertise and the ability to translate complex business and operational requirements into secure, scalable and resilient network solutions.

In addition, you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree (HBO/BSc) in Information Technology or a related field;
  • At least 10 years of network engineering experience, including several years in a senior design or architecture role;
  • Strong expertise in enterprise networking technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, Layer 2/3 switching, QoS and high-availability design;
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including Catalyst, Nexus, SD-WAN, Cisco ISE, FMC and Wireless solutions;
  • Solid experience with network security, firewall architecture, segmentation, VPN technologies and secure remote access;
  • Experience developing architecture documentation, reference designs, roadmaps and technical standards;
  • Knowledge of network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible and REST APIs;
  • A willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and occasionally travel to offshore vessels and other Allseas locations;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification is strongly preferred. Additional certifications such as CCNP Security, Cisco DevNet Professional, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or other Cisco Security specializations are considered a strong advantage. Equivalent architecture-level experience will also be valued.

Depending on your nationality, we may need to conduct background checks including references, qualifications, and work permits.

An online personality questionnaire can be part of the selection procedure.

What we offer

At Allseas, you join an entrepreneurial, down-to-earth environment where creative thinking, collaboration and technical excellence matter.

You can expect:

  • Competitive salary, pension, raises and bonuses;
  • 30 days of annual leave and flexible working hours;
  • Training, coaching, study budgets and Cisco certification support;
  • Fitness scheme, internal clubs, events and social activities.
