As a Hardware Integration Engineer, you make sure handhelds and readers work reliably with our mobile applications. You look at the entire chain, from device to app. Your focus is on integration, testing, troubleshooting, and working with suppliers. Sometimes a supplier provides an SDK; sometimes we build the integration ourselves. With your help, we will build the knowledge to develop, test, and manage more of these integrations in-house.

  • Location: Groenlo, Netherlands.

What are you going to do?

Connect RFID readers and handhelds to mobile apps, and solve the Bluetooth and firmware issues behind them.

A store employee needs to be able to rely on a handheld reader and a mobile app. When a connection drops or a scan does not reach the app, the cause could lie in the device, the firmware, a software development kit (SDK), the phone, or the connection between them. You find out what is happening and make sure the combination works in the store.

Your responsibilities

Integrate devices

Connect handhelds and readers to our mobile applications via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB.

Find the root cause

Reproduce issues and investigate the app, SDK, operating system, connection, firmware, and hardware until you understand what is going wrong.

Test for real-world use

Make checks repeatable so integrations continue to work across different devices and software versions.

Work with suppliers

Turn technical findings into clear feedback and follow up on issues until they are resolved.

Build in-depth RFID knowledge

Document what you learn and help the team develop and test more integrations in-house.

Your team

You will join the app team, a development team focused on mobile applications, and work closely with engineers who already work on hardware integration. You will get to know the mobile applications and devices, bring your own approach to investigating problems, and decide with your colleagues how integrations should be built and tested. When something does not work, you will investigate it with the team and the supplier. That is how we grow this expertise within Nedap.

What's in it for you?

We have the ambition and the opportunity to shape the future. And we need people with the drive to turn that into meaningful impact. You get the chance to contribute to something truly unique, alongside more than 1,000 driven and like-minded colleagues.

  • Salary: Based on your knowledge and experience. The range for this role is €4,600 to €5,300 gross per month based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.
  • Financial benefits: A 13th month, a solid pension plan, profit sharing, and the opportunity to become a Nedap shareholder.
  • Space and trust: You coordinate your working hours and vacation days with your colleagues to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional challenge: Space to explore ideas, solve practical technical problems, and collaborate with colleagues across Nedap.
  • Development opportunities: Plenty of room for personal and professional growth within Nedap.

Required skills

You enjoy technical questions whose answers cannot immediately be found in the code. You investigate what a device actually does, test your assumptions, and clearly explain what a colleague or supplier can change. A background in embedded systems, firmware, or IoT is a good fit if you like looking at the complete integration.

  • A relevant technical degree at HBO level (Dutch higher professional education) and around five years of experience with embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with connections between devices, particularly Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.
  • Experience investigating issues across hardware, firmware, and software, and delivering solutions that work for end users.
  • The ability to discuss technical findings clearly in Dutch and English, including with external suppliers.

Good to know: You are available for 32–38 hours per week. Hybrid working is the norm at Nedap, and you and your team can coordinate your working hours to achieve a good work-life balance. You will be present at our Campus in Groenlo at least three days a week.

Beyond your experience, it is important to us that you identify with our culture and values and want to contribute to our purpose: creating Technology for Life.
