We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer who wants to play an important role in strengthening the quality and reliability of our applications. Do you enjoy working hands-on with automated testing, investigating technical issues and improving regression coverage before defects reach production? Are you comfortable working with Robot Framework, REST API testing, front-end automation and Azure Pipelines? Then this role could be a great fit for you!

In this role, you will maintain, extend and monitor an existing regression testing system built on Robot Framework. The system covers both REST API and front-end testing with Playwright and runs continuously in Azure Pipelines. You will take ownership of the automated regression testing setup, keeping it reliable, useful and up to date. You will help the team assess and understand risks before they become production issues.

Your job

In this role, you will work closely with the development team: updating tests when the application changes, checking results from pipeline runs and helping colleagues understand what failed and why. In practice, this means you will:

  • Expand test coverage by writing and maintaining API and front-end test cases for new features and currently untested areas.
  • Maintain the Robot Framework setup, including test suites, resource files, endpoints, environment configuration and Python-based keyword libraries.
  • Monitor nightly and pipeline test runs in Azure DevOps and triage failures to distinguish real regressions from environment issues, flaky tests or test data problems.
  • Investigate regression failures end-to-end by reading logs, inspecting API responses, reproducing issues and creating clear bug reports for the development team.
  • Work with REST APIs, JSON payloads and session-based authentication to validate application behaviour and data flows.
  • Contribute to the stability and maintainability of the automated testing infrastructure, including Dockerized test execution and shared images for API and front-end suites.
  • Improve reporting and logging so that failures can be understood quickly and followed up efficiently.
  • Signal improvements in the way of working and actively contribute to better test quality, faster feedback loops and more reliable releases.

Working environment

You will be part of a DevOps team within the Access & Authorization Capability of the Value Domain I&A Technology. The team works on one of the bank’s Crown Jewel applications, where reliability is essential for business continuity. The application plays an important role in supporting secure access across the bank’s application landscape, which means changes need to be thoroughly tested before deployment. You will be a key part of the delivery process, with room to improve the testing setup and shape how automated testing supports the team’s day-to-day work.

Your profile

You are a hands-on and curious engineer who takes pride in making complex systems more reliable. You enjoy digging into technical details, but you also understand that good test automation is about communication, ownership and collaboration. You are patient when investigating failures, clear when explaining your findings and proactive when you see room for improvement.

You like working in a team where quality is a shared responsibility. You do not only automate checks from the sidelines, but actively work with developers, DevOps engineers and stakeholders to understand what is changing, what could break and how issues can be prevented. You are pragmatic, structured and persistent: you know when to investigate further, when to ask for input and when a solution is maintainable enough to move forward.

To be successful in this role, you recognize yourself in the following requirements:

  • At least 7 years of IT experience across test analysis, test execution and defect reporting, including at least 5 years of hands-on test automation experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, write and maintain Robot Framework test suites, resource files and Python-based keyword libraries.
  • Good understanding of REST API testing, including HTTP methods, status codes, authentication, request/response structures and JSON payloads.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tooling, including branching, pull requests, pipeline results and pipeline configuration.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized test execution.
  • Ability to interpret Robot Framework test results, including log and report files, and identify root causes efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Playwright and the Robot Framework Browser Library.

It would be an advantage if you also have a certification in Robot Framework or experience in Identity and Access Management.
