At DEMCON, we believe that long-term partnerships are built on trust, technological excellence and genuine commitment. We have been working with various Japanese clients for many years on complex high-tech development projects. To further strengthen these relationships and expand our presence in Japan, we are seeking a Strategic Business Manager for Japan.

  • Eindhoven
  • Lead / senior
  • Project management

In this role, you will be DEMCON’s senior representative to our Japanese clients. You will operate at the intersection of technology, business and strategic collaboration. You will act as a point of contact for senior management, programme organisations and project teams, and will be able to reconcile diverse interests to forge sustainable partnerships that create value for both parties.

About Demcon

Demcon high-tech systems is a full-service engineering partner for the development, industrialization and manufacturing of customized mechatronic systems and modules in the fields of semicon, quantum and photonics. We believe that every technical challenge has a solution, and we are committed to enabling our customers to be successful.

What are you going to do?

As Strategic Business Manager for Japan, you will be responsible for developing, strengthening and expanding the strategic relationships between DEMCON and its Japanese clients.

You will work across projects, DEMCON companies and locations, ensuring the continuity, quality and further development of our collaboration. In doing so, you will represent DEMCON to clients and bear delegated business responsibility on behalf of management for the development of these relationships. Whilst day-to-day implementation is the responsibility of the project teams, you will oversee the bigger picture and ensure that expectations, interests and ambitions remain aligned.

You understand how trust is built within Japanese organisations. You invest in long-term relationships, understand cultural differences and know how decision-making, collaboration and stakeholder management function within international high-tech environments. At the same time, you feel at home within technically complex development organisations and are able to demonstrate sufficient depth of knowledge to ask the right questions and conduct high-level discussions.

As well as further developing existing client relationships, you will play a key role in identifying new opportunities within the Japanese market and actively contribute to DEMCON’s strategic positioning in this region.

  • Representing DEMCON to Japanese clients at a strategic, commercial and operational level.
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with senior management, programme organisations and senior stakeholders within Japanese organisations.
  • Steering the further development of strategic client accounts within Japan.
  • Identifying growth opportunities, risks and developments within client organisations and translating these into concrete actions for DEMCON.
  • Coordinating complex collaborations spanning multiple projects, disciplines and locations.
  • Acting as a bridge between Japanese clients, DEMCON management and project teams.
  • Supporting the development of the Japan strategy and further strengthening DEMCON’s market position in Japan.
  • Travelling regularly to Japan to maintain relationships and develop new collaborations.

What do you bring to the table?

You have extensive experience within a technically complex environment where technology, business and client responsibility converge.

You have built your career within a project-driven organisation and understand how long-term client relationships are forged within high-tech development environments. You are accustomed to engaging at senior management and executive level, possess natural authority and know how to build trust within international organisations.

In addition, you recognise yourself in the following:

  • An academic level of work and thinking.
  • Demonstrable experience within high-tech, engineering or technology-driven organisations.
  • Experience in strategic account management, business development, programme management or a similar role in which client and business responsibility were central.
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills at executive and management level.
  • An affinity with Japanese corporate culture and international collaboration.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge to be an equal discussion partner for clients and project teams in terms of subject matter.

What do we offer you?

At Demcon, you’ll be working on technology that makes a real difference. In a relaxed organisation that encourages initiative and fosters a positive working relationship with motivated colleagues, you’ll help build solutions for both today and tomorrow. We genuinely care about you as a person and encourage job satisfaction and a healthy work-life balance.

You can also count on the following, amongst other things:

  • A competitive salary depending on your experience;
  • 8% holiday pay, with the option to have this paid out in May or monthly with your salary;
  • 25 vacation days and 6 ATV days based on full-time employment and an option to purchase additional vacation days;
  • Partial remote working arrangement: up to 2 days per week for full-time employees, always in consultation with your manager;
  • Training courses and programmes via the Demcon Academy for your personal and professional development;
  • A good pension scheme with Zwitserleven;
  • Bicycle scheme/bicycle lease scheme;
  • Vitality program including fun sports clinics, fresh fruit, workshops and a workplace health check;
  • Active staff association (monthly activities and an annual Demcon weekend).
