Booking.com’s mission is to make it easier for everyone to experience the world, delivered via our Connected Trip Vision. Our Attractions vertical plays a key role in that vision, and exists in a rapidly evolving global experiences industry.

About the position of Director of Product for Attractions

We are seeking a Product Director to lead, shape, and scale our global Attractions product portfolio. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Attractions, you will serve as a critical product leader for this vertical, driving overall strategy across traveller acquisition, partner tooling, core platform mechanics, and marketplace dynamics. This role provides an opportunity for fast paced, impactful work and would suit a leader who is looking for a broad portfolio, from customer acquisition, to retention; from CX vision to core systems implementation; from traveller to partner.

Why This Role?

  • Unrivaled Scope & Impact: You won't just optimize an existing funnel; you will define the multi-year product strategy for a product vertical. You will lead a portfolio spanning B2C traveller experiences, B2B partner platforms, and core marketplace architecture.
  • True Transformation & Leadership: You will inherit an established team of Group Product Managers and Product Managers. Your mission is to raise the craft bar, establish world-class product operating models, and coach senior leaders to reach their potential.
  • High-Visibility Executive Position: You will work directly with cross-functional leadership—across Engineering, Commercial, Data, Marketing, and Fintech—serving as the primary voice of Attractions product in executive forums.

Who You Are

  • A Proven Scaler & Portfolio Director: You have led multi-team product organizations in large-scale B2C e-commerce or two-sided marketplace environments. You know how to translate macro commercial ambitions into clear, high-leverage product bets.
  • A Strategic Integrator: You excel at "connecting the dots"—synthesizing complex, multi-system capabilities into a single, clear and prioritised roadmap that aligns cross-functional stakeholders without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • A Talent Developer: You are passionate about organizational design, building psychological safety, and coaching GPMs into world-class product leaders.
  • Driven by Outcomes, Fueled by Data: You bring strong financial and commercial acumen, using experimentation, user research, and domain metrics to guide investments and balance long-term tech health with constant focus on delivering the most critical outcomes and ‘cutting through the noise’. You know when to ‘experiment forward’, and when to make bolder step changes (and manage the associated risks of this approach)

Role Highlights at a Glance

  • Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid), Netherlands
  • Scope: Global Attractions Portfolio (Traveller, Partner, Platform)
  • Team: Leading our Product Org as part of a broader Attractions Vertical Management Team
  • Reporting To: Managing Director – Attractions

Key responsibilities

Product strategy and portfolio leadership

  • Own and communicate a clear 2–3-year product strategy for Attractions, that will power our growth ambitions by delivering a compelling value proposition to our travellers and partners and align with Booking’s Connected Trip vision
  • Translate company and business-unit strategy into a coherent portfolio of product bets, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Make explicit trade-offs across customer value, business impact, quality, risk, resources, time, and complexity.
  • Identify where to start, stop, continue, scale, consolidate, or sunset products and capabilities.
  • Ensure product strategies are grounded in customer insight, data, commercial understanding, and a clear view of market and technology developments.
  • Align product strategy across business units, departments, and overlapping product areas.
  • Act as the senior product spokesperson for Attractions in leadership forums.

Customer and business impact

  • Be accountable for vertical-level outcomes, not simply delivery of product outputs.
  • Own or influence major revenue, margin, efficiency, marketplace, customer experience, or platform-performance levers.
  • Ensure teams define meaningful outcome metrics, supporting metrics, and counter-metrics.
  • Use customer research, behavioural data, experimentation, and qualitative feedback to guide investment decisions.
  • Balance the needs of travellers, partners, internal users, and the wider Booking.com ecosystem.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure decisions are based on evidence and clear assumptions.

Success may be measured through metrics such as conversion, retention, customer satisfaction, revenue, cost efficiency, marketplace performance, adoption, reliability, or other domain-specific outcomes.

Product delivery and quality

  • Ensure delivery excellence across multiple product groups and tracks.
  • Own the long-term roadmap for the product area and resolve dependencies across teams, departments, and business units.
  • Establish effective operating mechanisms for prioritisation, planning, risk management, progress tracking, and decision-making.
  • Ensure products meet relevant non-functional requirements, including reliability, performance, security, privacy, accessibility, compliance, and maintainability.
  • Balance feature investment with technical health, operational stability, lifecycle management, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Ensure launches include appropriate monitoring, rollout, rollback, support, and operational-readiness plans.
  • Drive a culture of prevention, learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement rather than default firefighting.

Technology and cross-functional leadership

  • Partner with the MD, Engineering Director and senior engineering leaders on technical strategy and investment decisions.
  • Make or influence cross-business-unit decisions relating to architecture, platform evolution, modernisation, build-versus-buy, consolidation, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure technology investments support the long-term product strategy and business direction.
  • Promote scalable, maintainable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Encourage responsible use of AI, automation, and emerging technology where it improves customer outcomes, product quality, or delivery effectiveness.

People and organisational leadership

  • Our leaders focus on priorities, inspire teams with a clear vision, and cut through complexity to drive alignment, make decisions, innovate, and achieve long-term success
  • Lead, coach, and develop GPMs and other senior product leaders as people managers and product leaders.
  • Build a strong pipeline of product leadership talent ready for expanded scope or promotion.
  • Design and evolve the organisation structure, leadership layers, team boundaries, and accountability model required to deliver the strategy.
  • Make thoughtful build-versus-hire decisions and attract, retain, and develop diverse talent.
  • Hold product leaders accountable for performance, team health, product quality, and people-management standards.
  • Create an environment of trust, psychological safety, ownership, collaboration, direct feedback, and continuous learning.
  • Actively support talent mobility where it enables development and organisational effectiveness.
  • Maintain succession plans for critical product leadership roles.

The Product Director expectation is to develop GPMs as people leaders, create a leadership pipeline, design organisations for clear accountability, and hold GPMs accountable for the quality of their people leadership.

Stakeholder management and communication

  • Build alignment across product groups, functions, departments, business units, and senior leadership.
  • Represent the product area credibly and persuasively in VP, SVP, and other executive forums.
  • Establish decision forums, communication rhythms, and governance mechanisms that reduce organisational friction.
  • Communicate strategy, priorities, progress, risks, trade-offs, and performance with clarity and transparency.
  • Manage change effectively when strategy, priorities, organisation, or product direction evolves.
  • Surface disagreement early and drive decisions through structured narratives, options, evidence, and recommendations.
  • Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and partners where relevant.

Contribution beyond core scope

  • Identify systemic gaps in product capability, quality, delivery, or operating practice across the vertical.
  • Sponsor initiatives that improve onboarding, delivery standards, hiring quality, calibration, development, or promotion consistency.
  • Contribute actively to senior Product Management recruitment and promotion panels.
  • Mentor and coach Product Managers outside your own organisation.
  • Lead or sponsor cross-BU initiatives that raise the standard of product management across Booking.com.
  • Contribute to reusable product-management standards, frameworks, learning content, or communities of practice.

Qualifications and experience

Requirements

  • Extensive product-management experience, including significant experience leading multiple product teams or product groups.
  • Experience managing and developing senior product leaders, (GPMs, PPMs, or Directors)
  • Demonstrated success setting multi-year product strategy and translating it into measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Experience managing complex portfolios with significant ambiguity, dependencies, risk, and organisational complexity.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience balancing investment, resourcing, budget, and expected return.
  • Proven ability to influence across business units and senior leadership without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Strong understanding of product delivery, experimentation, analytics, technology, product quality, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience partnering effectively with senior Engineering, Design, Data, Finance, Commercial, Operations, Legal, Security, and Research leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to design organisations, build leadership capability, and manage succession.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; postgraduate qualification preferred.
