Create your own future

Are you looking for a spot to discover more about the banking sector, where you can use your talent for quantitative analysis in a way that directly impacts our products and clients? Then the Asset & Liability Management Analyst internship may be a good start for you. Here you can learn how to use quantitative techniques in practice, in combination with broadly applicable skills in financial risk management, financial planning and analysis, and bank strategy.

  • Amsterdam
  • For a period of 3-6 months
  • The starting date of this internship is February 2027
  • Preferably part time next your studies for 16-32 hours a week

For a period of 3-6 months, you will be part of Asset & Liability Management (ALM), a small team of quantitatively minded financial specialists in the CFO domain of Van Lanschot Kempen. The ALM team covers all areas of balance sheet management, including capital, liquidity and interest rate risk. We do this with in-house developed models based on large datasets of client data that run on our own ALM data-infrastructure.

You will be involved in activities such as:

  • Drafting the monthly report to the Asset & Liability Committee of the Management Board
  • Improving our ALM infrastructure, such as automatically refreshing daily interest rates or creating a dashboard that tracks developments in client savings deposits.
  • Contribute to ALM model development, for example our model that estimates the probability that clients will prepay part of their outstanding mortgage balance before the contractual end date, or our model that estimates whether clients will withdraw their savings deposits.

Your talents

Proactive, analytical and curious. This is how we can best describe you as a Asset & Liability Management Analyst intern. Talents that you use to help guide the bank through an ever changing interest rate environment. You have strong quantitative skills, a knack for data analysis, and it is your second nature to continuously strive for improvements.

You also have:

  • Reached the final phase of your Bachelor- or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Econometrics or equivalent;
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and relevant software, such as MATLAB, Python or R;
  • Affinity with the banking sector and an interest in our products and clients; and
  • Advanced English language ability.
