About Demcon

Each one of our companies differentiates itself in its own domain with unique expertise and skills. This way they help customers improve their performance and achieve more. On the basis of their passion for technology our companies are able to combine forces. By sharing knowledge and working together we increase our social impact. Demcon life sciences & health is a multidisciplinary development and engineering partner for mechatronic challenges, from concept to realization, in the field of life sciences & health.

What are you going to do?

As a junior Mechatronics Engineer at Demcon, you’ll work on projects for Life Sciences clients (e.g., in medical devices, implants, or wearables). This role often requires precision, and an eye for detail is essential.

As part of multidisciplinary teams, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to develop new concepts from scratch all the way to a working prototype, with a view toward (mass) production. You’ll be supported by and work closely with experienced colleagues.

You’ll work on mechatronic designs within your projects and develop them from start to finish. You’ll begin by analyzing the established specifications. In the subsequent concept phase, you’ll contribute to the conceptual design by performing calculations, analyses, and tests. You’ll create proof-of-concept models or prototypes of your designs, test them, and use the test results to improve your designs. You will select sensors, actuators, and other components, set up the control system, and collaborate with other disciplines—such as mechanics, electronics, and software—to integrate your subsystem with the other subsystems.

You will then develop the detailed design in accordance with ISO 13485 standards, prepare documentation, and participate in the implementation and verification phases. Throughout all these activities, collaboration within your project team is essential to achieving a successful, collaborative outcome.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have an interest in topics such as sensors, actuators, motors, and measurement and control technology;
  • You have a proactive attitude and experience working in teams;
  • Knowledge of programming (e.g., MATLAB and Python) is a plus.

What do we offer you?

At Demcon, you’ll work on technology that makes a difference. In a casual organization that encourages initiative and fosters a pleasant working environment with motivated colleagues, you’ll help build solutions for today and tomorrow. We genuinely care about you as a person and encourage job satisfaction and a healthy work-life balance.

You can also count on the following, among other benefits:

  • Competitive salary: €42,840 (for master’s degree holders) and €51,480 (for PhD holders) per year (excluding 8% vacation pay), depending on your experience;
  • 8% vacation pay, with the option to receive it as a lump sum in May or monthly with your salary;
  • 25 vacation days and 6 ATV days based on full-time employment;
  • Option to purchase additional days;
  • Training courses and programs through the Demcon Academy for your personal and professional development;
  • A solid pension plan with Zwitserleven;
  • Travel allowance;
  • Bicycle plan/leased bicycle program;
  • Wellness program including fun sports clinics, workshops, and a workplace health check;
  • Fresh fruit every week;
  • Opportunity to participate in sporting events;
  • Active employee association (monthly activities and an annual Demcon weekend).
