As Regional Legal Counsel, Northern Europe, Benelux, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal support to Stryker’s business in Northern Europe, with primary responsibility for the Benelux area and additional exposure to Nordic matters. You will partner closely with commercial leadership, sales, tender and contracts teams, finance, compliance, RAQA, HR and other enabling functions to enable compliant business growth, manage legal risk and support regional strategic initiatives. Reporting to Regional Counsel, Northern Europe, you will exercise independent judgment and management skills and exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the trusted advisor and strategic partner for the Benelux business within Northern Europe, providing practical, timely and commercially focused legal advice enabling business growth.
  • Support selected Northern Europe and Nordic matters, including cross-country projects, strategic initiatives and regional alignment of legal processes.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including tender/customer agreements, framework agreements, capital equipment arrangements, service and maintenance models, pricing/rebate structures, distribution or indirect channel arrangements, HCP/HCO agreements and other healthcare-related contracts.
  • Analyze and provide clear and concise guidance on laws, rules, regulations, and Stryker policies as necessary, including with respect to healthcare industry regulations, public procurement, healthcare professional interactions.
  • Support dispute management, customer escalations, investigations, product/service-related legal issues and other operational legal matters.
  • Proactively together with Compliance identify, assess and mitigate legal and compliance risks, including through training, contract process improvements, template updates and practical business guidance.
  • Partner with sales, tender and pricing, finance, compliance, RAQA, HR, GAMA/market access and divisional counsel to support compliant business execution.
  • Collaborate with EMEA/global legal and compliance colleagues, centres of expertise and external counsel to ensure consistent, efficient and high-quality legal support in variety of significant matters (e.g., strategic contracting, data privacy and security, intellectual property, litigation, employment, and regulatory matters).
  • Contribute to regional legal initiatives, knowledge sharing, trainings and continuous improvement of contracting, governance and risk-management processes.
  • Where appropriate, represent Stryker in industry associations, working groups and external legal forums.
  • Support the overall objectives of the North-Europe/EMEA region and Enterprise Governance Department

Requirements:

  • Law degree & admission to practice law as inhouse counsel required
  • Qualified lawyer with approximately 6 to 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience
  • Strong commercial contracting experience and ability to negotiate with sophisticated customers and business partners.
  • Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, ethics, accountability, and sound professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical and risk-based advice in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to partner confidently with local and regional business leaders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English & Dutch are required.
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to leverage AI-enabled legal technologies, contract lifecycle management tools and other digital solutions to improve efficiency, risk assessment, knowledge management and legal service delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
  • In-house legal experience with a medical technology, healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical organization.
  • Experience providing legal counsel within a global organization or matrixed corporate environment.
  • French language skills and/or any other Northern European languages.

Netherlands Pay Ranges:

  • Netherlands: €91.700 - €170.200 EUR Annual
