Vopak helps the world flow forward. We store the energy of today and tomorrow. But behind our impressive terminals and tanks, it is our people who make the difference. To strengthen our leading position in the energy transition and global trade, we are looking for your talent. As a Learning & Development Intern, you will play a key role in realizing our ambitions while building both the future of Vopak and your own.

Your Mission

Ready to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI and global human development? Join Vopak’s Global IT team and lead a project that will shape how our software development communities learn and grow across the Netherlands, India, and Portugal.

At Vopak, our IT landscape is growing fast. To keep our global teams delivering top-tier software, we need uniform, consistent, and engaging training. We have the technical standards and guidelines documented—now, we need you to bring them to life.

As our Learning & Development Intern, you won't just be shadow-watching; you will own the process of building modern, agile learning tracks. Using state-of-the-art AI tools, you will ingest complex documentation and transform it into slick, interactive e-learning content. You will act as the consultative link between tech experts and educational design.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborate with Experts: Partner with global Process Managers and Domain Leads (Testing, Software Development, Scrum Masters) to map out essential learning paths.
  • Drive AI Integration: Use Vopak’s advanced AI tools to generate e-learning content from raw technical standards, then review, refine, and add your human touch.
  • Build & Implement: Design, compose, and launch the online e-learning programs within our Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Measure Success: (Time permitting) Gather feedback from international participants to continuously optimize the learning experience.

Why you’ll love working with us:

  • Gain hands-on experience using best-in-class AI tools for instructional design—a highly sought-after skill in today's job market.
  • Learn how a major global company manages enterprise-scale L&D and tracks progress via an LMS.
  • A healthy hybrid work model (32-40 hours) split between your home setup and our vibrant head office in Rotterdam.
  • A competitive internship allowance of €575/month (based on full-time).
  • An inclusive, international, and supportive environment where your ideas genuinely matter.

Does this sound like you?

  • You are currently enrolled in a Dutch applied sciences college (HBO) or university (WO) and will remain enrolled for the duration of the internship.
  • You are studying Human Resource Management, Educational Science (Onderwijswetenschappen), or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills (you'll be working with global teams).
  • You have a genuine affinity for Learning & Development, a curiosity about how IT organizations function, and an interest in process optimization.
  • Ready to make an impact for 3–6 months (32-40 hours per week).
