You'll act as a subject matter expert for customs and product classification matters, supporting warehouse operations, business teams, logistics partners, and customs authorities on a wide range of trade compliance activities.

You'll join a collaborative team where your expertise will help protect the business, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across Canon's supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for customs regulations, trade compliance, and product classification across the EMEA region.
  • Manage and maintain Harmonized System (HS) classifications for Canon products, ensuring compliance with international customs regulations and company standards.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on customs-related topics, including product setup, classification requirements, and regulatory changes.
  • Support daily customs operations by providing guidance to logistics providers, brokers, warehouses, and business teams on customs-related questions and issues.
  • Monitor customs declarations and duty payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance through reconciliation and validation activities.
  • Analyse customs data, reports, and communications from customs authorities to identify potential risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Collaborate with customs authorities, external brokers, and logistics partners to resolve customs-related matters efficiently and effectively.
  • Contribute to business projects and operational initiatives by providing trade compliance expertise and ensuring regulatory requirements are incorporated into project plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, standardise, and automate customs and trade compliance processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Support the development and maintenance of trade compliance documentation, procedures, and knowledge resources.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product Management, and Customer Operations teams.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Customs, Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage, Logistics Compliance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import/export processes, and product classification methodologies.
  • Experience classifying products using Harmonized System (HS) codes.
  • Experience working with customs authorities, customs brokers, freight forwarders, or logistics service providers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex customs and regulatory information.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience analysing operational or compliance-related data.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in an international supply chain or logistics environment.
  • Knowledge of European customs regulations and EMEA trade compliance requirements.
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Access, or similar business systems.
  • Experience supporting customs duty reconciliation and reporting activities.
  • Understanding of process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Dutch language skills.
