Would you like to apply your FPGA expertise to systems that truly make a difference? And do you enjoy working close to electronics, sensors, and hardware integration? Then this could be your next step at Demcon in Enschede.

  • Engineering
  • Medior

At Demcon, we develop technology that makes an impact today and tomorrow. We create technically complex high-tech, medical, and industrial systems, ranging from measurement and control systems and motion control solutions to data acquisition platforms, sensor technology, and embedded systems. FPGA technology plays a key role in many of these developments.

You will work on smart, reliable solutions where electronics, FPGA design, software, and mechanics come together. No two projects are the same, but one thing is certain: you will collaborate with colleagues who share your passion for technology and innovation.

What are you going to do?

As an FPGA engineer - Electronics & Embedded Hardware with a focus on electronics design, you will develop, implement, and test FPGA-based solutions within embedded electronic systems. While FPGA development is at the core of your role, you will also be actively involved in the surrounding electronics and hardware challenges. You will contribute to system architecture decisions, translate functional requirements into robust FPGA and hardware solutions, and ensure seamless integration with sensors, actuators, interfaces, power supplies, and other electronic components. In addition, you will take on electronics engineering activities such as hardware design, component selection, schematic reviews, board bring-up, measurements, verification, and the creation of technical product documentation.

You will have significant freedom to shape your work and further develop your expertise in FPGA technology. Our projects make use of modern development and verification tools such as Vivado, Vitis, ModelSim, MATLAB HDL Coder, and Python-based test benches with cocotb. Depending on the project, you may also gain experience with Vitis HLS, AI deployment on FPGA platforms, and CI/CD workflows using GitLab and Docker. Through our FPGA competence group, you will share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to the continued growth and advancement of FPGA expertise within Demcon.

What do you bring to the table?

  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, with a significant focus on FPGA development;
  • Experience with FPGA development, for example using VHDL/Verilog and Xilinx platforms, or demonstrable in-depth expertise in this area;
  • Affinity with electronics development, embedded hardware, PCB design, bring-up, and verification;
  • Experience with lab measurements, debugging, and bring-up of FPGA and electronic systems is considered an advantage;
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the curiosity to dive into complex technical challenges;
  • A sense of ownership, a hands-on mentality, and the drive to deliver working solutions;
  • Enjoyment of collaboration and the motivation to act as the connecting link between electronics, FPGA, software, and systems engineering.

What do we offer you?

At Demcon, you work on technology that truly matters. In an informal organization that values initiative and fosters collaboration with driven colleagues, you will contribute to solutions that make an impact today and tomorrow. We genuinely care about you as a person and actively promote job satisfaction and a healthy work-life balance.

In addition, you can look forward to:

  • A salary between €37,728 and €68,616 per year (excluding holiday allowance), depending on your experience;
  • 8% holiday allowance, with the choice to receive it as a lump sum in May or paid monthly with your salary;
  • 25 vacation days and 6 ATV days based on a full-time employment contract, with the option to purchase additional leave days;
  • A hybrid working arrangement, allowing up to 2 days of remote work per week (full-time basis), always in consultation with your manager;
  • Training programs and courses through the Demcon Academy to support your personal and professional development;
  • An attractive pension plan with Zwitserleven;
  • A bicycle plan/lease bike scheme;
  • A vitality program including sports clinics, fresh fruit, workshops, and workplace assessments;
  • An active staff association, offering monthly social activities and the annual Demcon weekend.
