About this position

At TNO, you'll work in an environment where scientific research and real-world applications come together. Think of developing solutions to reuse industrial heat and accelerate the energy transition. Together with governments, universities, hospitals, and industry partners, we contribute to a better world for tomorrow.

As a Financial Control Administrator, you'll support the innovation capacity of our entire organisation by applying your up-to-date financial expertise and analytical mindset. You'll be part of a close-knit team responsible for delivering accurate, transparent, and timely financial administration. You enjoy working collaboratively, have a keen eye for detail, and ensure that every figure is accurate down to the last decimal.

What will be your role?

Together with a team of around 10 colleagues, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and complete processing of costs and revenues in SAP. You'll also play an important role in supporting smooth month-end and year-end closing activities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform analyses of balance sheet accounts and provide input for reliable financial reporting.
  • Monitor TNO's financial position and contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare financial reports for one or more departments within the Service Organisation.
  • Help ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve financial control processes and contribute to continuous process improvement.

What we expect from you

  • A completed Bachelor's degree (HBO level) in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, combined with at least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work accurately with financial data.
  • Experience with SAP and an interest in AI are considered an advantage.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to contribute to innovation and automation while inspiring others to embrace new ways of working.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented attitude and the flexibility to rotate tasks within the team. You are reliable, accurate, act with integrity, and are well organised.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.

You'll join a friendly, informal team based in the heart of The Hague, just a short walk from Central Station.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3,000 and € 4,000 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave plus a flexible holiday that can be used on a cultural, religious, or otherwise important day of your choosing (on a full-time basis).
  • We offer a comprehensive and flexible mobility plan that also includes full compensation for public transportation for commuting and business travel.
  • Great social events with your team and other TNO colleagues. That’s how you will get to know a lot of people really quickly.
  • Flexible working hours, the possibility to work parttime (32 or 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
  • A good pension scheme.
  • A certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.

Innovation with purpose: that is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for practical application. TNO connects people and knowledge to create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way.
