About this role

As a Junior Data Engineer at Just Eat Takeaway.com, you will help build and scale data & analytics solutions that power our local markets and global leadership with world-class analytics tools. Working alongside data analysts, analytics engineers, and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in developing reliable data pipelines and shaping our global analytics landscape.

We are building the next generation of our data platform and are looking for a motivated junior engineer who can swim fast, react, and adapt. If you are up to date with modern data technologies, have a get-things-done attitude, and want to learn from a world-class team—we are looking for you!

These are some of the key components to the position:

  • Pipeline Development: Building, maintaining, and optimizing scalable, high-performing data pipelines using dbt, SQL, and modern cloud technologies.
  • Collaboration: Partnering directly with data analysts and business leads to understand domain requirements and turn raw transactional data into structured, actionable insights.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implementing data quality checks, monitoring pipeline health, and applying data management best practices to ensure high reliability across our global platform.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Creating clear documentation, standardizing data modeling workflows, and maintaining clean codebases for long-term scalability.
  • Tech Exploration: Continuously exploring and integrating new technologies, modern stack tooling, and AI solutions to optimize reporting workflows and improve overall data efficiency.
  • Agile Teamwork: Taking a proactive approach to your work and participating actively in global Agile teams (sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives).
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, and a desire to optimise workflows for stability and speed.

What will you bring to the team?

  • Hands-on Mindset: A strong drive to take ownership of projects, debug complex data issues, and continuously learn new techniques.
  • A sense of ownership and a proactive approach, contributing to the team’s success by full task ownership from inception to delivery.
  • Core Data Engineering Principles: Solid foundational knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling (e.g., dimensional modeling).
  • Strong SQL Skills: Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL queries.
  • Tech Curiosity: An innovative, exploratory mindset with an interest in leveraging modern data engineering tooling, automation, and AI solutions to solve data problems.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
  • Hands-on experience or coursework with dbt.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform / GCP, BigQuery, or similar cloud data warehouses).
  • Familiarity with Python or version control systems (e.g., Git and GitHub/GitLab).

Our teams forge connections internally and work with some of the best-known brands on the planet, giving us truly international impact in a dynamic environment.

Fun, fast-paced and supportive, the JET culture is about movement, growth, helping one another to succeed and celebrating wins.
