AI Product Trainee

Mission of this role

This traineeship is a genuine way into product management. You'll have real ownership, with coaching alongside you, and the possibility to grow further and develop your career at Rentman. You'll join our small AI squad and work directly with the team lead.

You'll be the main connection between our AI engineers, AI agents, and the people who use them. You'll listen to what users tell us, figure out what's not working, and turn that into something the team can actually build on. This role exists to find what problem or opportunity we can solve using AI next. That's how the engineering team knows what to build next, and why.

If you're a great communicator and want to learn, grow, and put your skills to the test, this traineeship is for you. You'll own the problems you pick, from problem brief to shipped feature.

What you'll do

• Work with our business teams to spot opportunities and problems.
• Gather feedback continuously instead of waiting for it.
• Agree with stakeholders what "better" means as a number before work starts.
• Turn what you hear into scoped problem briefs, with success criteria and context.
• Own the backlog and keep a stocked Ready column so engineers never idle.
• Co-run prioritization with senior stakeholders, which means sometimes telling them "not that."
• Protect engineer focus. You keep the squad pointed at the highest-value thing.

What we are looking for

• You communicate and challenge. You run the room and ask the hard questions.
• AI-fluent & coachable. You use AI daily and know its limitations, and you're not afraid to ask for help when needed.
• You care about value and usability, so whether anyone actually uses and benefits from it. Adoption over shipped features.
• Working student available to work 16-24 hours a week with at least one overlap day in Utrecht.
• Have the right to work in the Netherlands.
• Fluent in working English.

Nice to haves

• An earlier internship or side project in product, CX, support, or sales.
• Prior user research or user-group experience.
• Data literacy (e.g., basic SQL).
• Affinity with the event or rental industry, or with SaaS companies.
