Wat betekent dit voor jou?

We're looking for an enthusiastic DevOps Engineer to join Albert Heijn's Store Infra Engineering team within Albert Heijn's platform for Store and Supply Chain technology. Someone who combines technical experience with genuine passion for system engineering and the ability to elevate fellow engineers, and who is not afraid of the challenge of Albert Heijn with its ±200,000 devices across all stores.

In this role, you will work in a complex hybrid environment (cloud and on-premise systems) as part of the IT infrastructure of our stores. With a DevOps approach, you will contribute to automating the management of devices and software in stores using our standard DevOps tooling. You will help build and maintain a robust and manageable infrastructure of compute, network and mobile devices (Android, Apple etc.) to ensure reliability and security in our store environment.

Next to that, you will also be part of our wider engineering journey to transform to an edge compute-based platform in our stores, enabling colleagues to work fully cloud native in stores and further enhancing reliability, security and speed of innovation in our digital store.

This is how you will reinvent food retail.

We are hiring someone with a cloud and DevOps engineering mindset who is willing to work in a complex Store IT infrastructure and systems environment at the biggest retailer in the Netherlands. Somebody who likes to solve engineering problems, but also thinks along with the business problems we are solving: how to enable store innovation at scale while still ensuring non-functional requirements are met.

As part of the team, you will be doing:

  • Using our available MDM tooling to build automation for operations at scale
  • Engineering security policies for devices to ensure our technology estate is properly hardened
  • Using infrastructure-as-code for additional automation in our large infrastructure environment
  • Leveraging Git and a GitOps-based way of working to enable a DevOps approach to managing our environment
  • Driving observability and monitoring using standard tooling such as Grafana and Loki to improve system visibility
  • Continuously improving processes and technologies to increase reliability and security of in-store devices
  • Cooperating with your team and other stakeholders on improvements and stability of in-store devices
  • Helping establish a clear end-to-end view of environments and dependencies

Your new team and office.

At Albert Heijn, you team up with inspiring peers in the data, digital and tech domains. A community of individuals who share a common goal: to create digital solutions that make (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring. We invest heavily in data, digital and tech, and that includes investing in your career. Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as well as in the office.

Don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either 😉. Don’t hesitate if you think you are up for the challenge!

The recipe for maximum impact.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in Azure or other public cloud environments, including infrastructure-as-code automation
  • Experience in Intune for mobile device management at scale
  • Experience with PowerShell, Graph API, and automation
  • Experience with Linux environments
  • Understanding of APIs and REST services
  • Understanding of networking infrastructures and protocols
  • Understanding of GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD practices
  • Understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, and modern platform technologies
  • A proactive, solution-driven mindset with the ability to work independently and deliver results
  • Good collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for continuous improvement

What we offer.

  • An annual salary that can lead up to 75k including holiday allowance and a flexible bonus
  • 45 days of paid leave to enjoy your well-deserved holidays: 25.5 regular vacation days and 19.5 ADV days
  • Flexible working hours
  • Access to a challenging training curriculum – AH Tech Academy
  • An excellent pension plan where we as an employer contribute 4.5 times more than you as an employee
  • A travel allowance or an NS-business card for traveling to and from Zaandam by train
  • 10% staff discount on groceries in all Albert Heijn stores, up to a maximum of €300 per year
  • A free Mijn Albert Heijn Premium membership with many benefits
  • A company laptop (Mac/Windows) and telephone (iPhone or Android)
