Welcome app is looking for a Marketing & Design Intern

(Dutch language required)

Would you like to gain work experience at a social enterprise and contribute to a more inclusive society? Are you a design whiz? Do inspiring designs make your heart race? Would you like to be part of a dynamic and diverse team with a big social heart, based in the heart of Amsterdam (but with a flexible and hybrid work policy)? Keep reading!

What is Welcome app?

Welcome app makes building a new life in a foreign country easier by making relevant information, activities, services, and local organizations accessible in one place: the Welcome app. The organization currently works for six municipalities: Almere, Den Bosch, Dordrecht, Leiden, Oegstgeest, and Venlo. Its ambition is to grow to 65 Dutch municipalities in the next three years, alongside international ambitions.

What will you do?

As a Marketing & Communication intern, you will be at the forefront of efforts to communicate with various target groups and strengthen the brand position. Your role includes creating compelling content, managing social media channels, and contributing to strategic marketing initiatives. From creating relevant posts to collaborating on campaigns, you will have the opportunity to apply your creativity and communication skills in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management: You will be involved in social media by brainstorming, creating, and scheduling posts in line with the content calendar. You will also ensure that the content shared is consistent with branding and analyze social media performance for continuous improvement.
  • Content Creation and Optimization: You will create content for all target groups (newcomers, locals, organizations, and municipalities). You will work on the graphic design of newsletters, sales and pitch decks, marketing campaigns, flyers and posters, and other promotional materials. Canva is used for this work.
  • Executing Existing Marketing Plans and Ad-Hoc Communication: Occasionally, you will accompany Project Coordinators on visits to municipalities to gather user experiences and get a feel for the work being done.
  • Strengthening Collaboration Between Business Development and Marketing: The goal is to expand the reach of the Welcome app to multiple new municipalities. This includes focusing on generating leads, executing strategic campaigns, and exploring new marketing opportunities, such as sharing case studies.
  • Website: Maintaining the website using WordPress.
  • Brand Strengthening: You will contribute to a cohesive visual and verbal identity, with special attention to intercultural communication.

Who are we looking for?

You are a creative person with an eye for detail, and you enjoy creating various types of content. You also know a lot about marketing and how to write strong texts. You work proactively, take the lead, and stand out among others. Additionally, you speak both Dutch and English (at least B2 level). A migration background is a plus.

What do we offer?

  • An internship from September to January (exact period and start date can be discussed).
  • A varied part-time role of 24-36 hours per week.
  • The opportunity to contribute to and build a growing tech start-up with a social goal and make a meaningful impact on newcomers.
  • An internship allowance.
  • A flexible schedule and the possibility to work hybrid.
  • The chance to develop various skills and build a unique network.
  • Free lunch at the centrally located office in Amsterdam.
