We're hiring for a Scrum Master Controls Engineering role within the Innovation team at JBT Marel.

The Innovation Department is responsible for developing the next generation of poultry processing solutions. Our multidisciplinary teams combine mechanical engineering, software development, PLC control engineering, and HMI design to deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable technologies for customers worldwide.

The PLC and HMI teams play a key role in driving Continuous Improvement, New Product Development, and Standardization across our portfolio. Working closely with product management, engineering, and customers, they create intelligent control systems and user-friendly interfaces that help maintain JBT Marel's position as a technology leader in the poultry industry.

🔍 About the Role

As Scrum Master within Controls Engineering, you will facilitate two PLC & HMI development teams operating in a machine development environment at the intersection of software and hardware engineering. Working closely with the Product Owner, you will help create and sustain a high-performing, self-managing, and continuously improving delivery organization.

You will play a key role in contributing to the broader Agile transformation by helping define, implement, and scale Agile processes across the organization, providing clear insight into their impact and business value through measurable outcomes.

Through coaching, facilitation, and servant leadership, you will help teams maximize their potential while fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

🧠 What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & Delivery

  • Partner with the Product Owner to drive high performance, ownership, and predictable delivery.
  • Create and maintain the conditions for team success, including focus, clarity, and a sustainable pace.
  • Support the team in achieving sprint goals and improving overall delivery effectiveness.

Facilitation & Flow

  • Facilitate Scrum and Kanban events, ensuring they are effective and time-boxed.
  • Use relevant Agile metrics to monitor team effectiveness and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other teams to manage dependencies and ensure smooth delivery flow.
  • Identify, remove, or escalate impediments, including organizational blockers.
  • Navigate dependencies between Agile software teams and non-Agile stakeholders or processes.
  • Support continuous flow and delivery optimization across engineering teams.

Coaching & Capability Building

  • Coach team members in Scrum and Kanban practices and improve team dynamics.
  • Empower teams to gradually reduce dependency on the Scrum Master role.
  • Teach, mentor, and coach teams on the JBT Marel Software Development Process, ensuring knowledge is adopted and sustained.
  • Support the development of Agile capabilities and continuous learning across the organization.

Culture & Collaboration

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, openness, and trust.
  • Act as a role model for JBT Marel values within the team and broader organization.
  • Engage with stakeholders, manage expectations, and communicate clearly on progress and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers on team performance, growth, and objectives.
  • Contribute to an environment where teams feel supported, empowered, and motivated to succeed.

🛠️ What You Bring

You will recognize yourself in the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Strong experience working with software development teams focusing on software development, including design and coding principles.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary machine software and hardware environment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and expectation management skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in Dutch, both written and verbal, is considered a plus.

🌟 Nice to Have

  • Experience working within machine building, industrial automation, or controls engineering environments.
  • Experience supporting Agile transformations and organizational change initiatives.
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI development environments.
  • Agile certifications such as PSM, CSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent.
  • Experience with data-driven improvement and Agile performance metrics.
