At Eneco, you will work on one of the biggest challenges of our time: accelerating the energy transition. Eneco Energy Trade plays a critical role in realizing the ambition to become climate neutral by 2035.

As Business Manager Trade, you operate at the heart of Eneco Trade. You work directly with the Trade Management Team and help create the structure, quality and follow-through needed for effective decision-making. This is a strong development opportunity for an ambitious professional who wants to understand how senior management works from the inside. You will be close to strategic discussions, management priorities, Trade-wide initiatives and key decisions.

At the same time, this is not a purely strategic or advisory role. You are expected to make things happen: preparing meetings, creating presentations, writing minutes, following up on actions and ensuring decisions are translated into progress.

  • Shape a new role yourself, combining strategic advisory work with hands-on delivery, structure and follow-through.
  • Gain unique exposure to senior management, strategic governance and Trade-wide transformation topics.
  • Work directly with the full Trade Management Team on strategic priorities, decision-making and execution across Eneco Energy Trade.

What you’ll do

You will be part of Eneco’s Trade department, operating in a dynamic trading environment and contributing directly to the delivery of Eneco’s strategic ambitions and the One Planet Plan.

As Business Manager Trade, you enable effective decision-making, strategic alignment and execution across Eneco Trade. The role reports hierarchically to the Director Trade Ops & IT, while functionally supporting all Trade Management members and the broader Trade organization. You act as trusted advisor, coordinator and execution lead for the Trade Management Team. You help prepare the right discussions, structure the decision-making process and ensure that strategic priorities are translated into actions, ownership and measurable progress.

You own and continuously improve the governance and effectiveness of Trade Management team and other strategic Trade decision-making forums. This includes preparing agendas, coordinating pre-reads, creating decision papers, writing minutes, capturing decisions and following up on actions. You make sure that leadership time is used effectively and that decisions are clear, well documented and followed through.

In addition, you independently lead Trade-wide initiatives, improvement programs and strategic topics on behalf of the Trade Management Team. This requires strong stakeholder management, planning and execution. You monitor progress on strategic priorities, risks and dependencies, and you challenge stakeholders where needed to drive delivery of agreed outcomes.

The role requires switching constantly between strategic, tactical and operational levels. One moment you are supporting a strategic Trade discussion, the next you are finalizing a presentation, aligning stakeholders or documenting a decision. You understand that strong senior leadership depends on excellent preparation, reliable execution and disciplined follow-through.

Because this is a new role within Eneco Energy Trade, there is room to shape it yourself. You will help define what good governance, decision preparation, management rhythm and execution discipline should look like for Trade. The role is intended as an attractive development position for high-potential professionals with leadership ambitions.

Is this about you?

  • You have a university degree and academic working and thinking level, with 5+ years of relevant experience in business management, strategy, governance, project or program management.
  • You are highly independent, structured and proactive. You do not wait until someone tells you what to do, but you identify what is needed and take ownership.
  • You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You are comfortable working on senior management topics, but also take pride in high-quality minutes, presentations, follow-up lists and decision documentation.
  • You have proven ability to operate in complex stakeholder environments and can influence without formal authority.
  • You have strong analytical and conceptual skills and can make complex matters transparent, actionable and easy to understand.
  • You communicate clearly, listen well and know how to build trust with senior stakeholders, experts and operational teams.
  • You act with integrity, discretion and sound judgement, especially when handling confidential or strategically sensitive information.
  • You are comfortable working under pressure in a dynamic, commercially sensitive environment involving strategic, financial, operational, organizational and regulatory topics.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Enabling effective decision-making across the Trade Management Team and other strategic Trade governance forums, ensuring decisions are timely, transparent, well prepared and properly documented.
  • Translating strategic priorities and management decisions into actionable plans, clear ownership, measurable outcomes and visible progress.
  • Preparing, coordinating and documenting leadership meetings, including agendas, pre-reads, decision papers, minutes, action tracking and follow-up.
  • Driving Trade-wide initiatives and improvement programs on behalf of the Trade Management Team, including stakeholder alignment, planning, governance and execution.
  • Continuously improving Trade governance, management reporting, decision documentation and ways of working, with a focus on quality, simplicity and effectiveness.

This is where you’ll work

You will work within Eneco Energy Trade, a dynamic environment where commercial, operational and Tech teams work closely together. With a diverse team of more than 200 highly educated professionals, the team develops and executes market strategies that support Eneco’s sustainability ambitions. Eneco Energy Trade is a fast-paced and sometimes hectic environment that requires initiative, ownership and sound judgement. The culture is informal and collaborative, where people quickly connect across teams and disciplines to achieve common goals. Trade operates in a rapidly changing market environment where strategic decisions, operational execution, risk management, digitalization and stakeholder alignment come together every day. As Business Manager Trade, you will be at the center of this environment, working closely with the Trade Management Team and gaining broad exposure across the entire Trade organization.

You will report hierarchically to the Director Trade Ops & IT, who is responsible for day-to-day management. Functionally, you will work for the full Trade Management Team and support the entire Trade organization. This means you will be close to multiple senior leaders, value chains and functional domains across Trade. This makes the role a strong platform for professional growth. You will gain broad exposure, build a strong network and learn how senior management steers a complex trading organization. For the right candidate, this role can be a stepping stone into a next leadership, strategy, transformation or business role within Eneco.
