Job Description

We have a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing microbiology QC operations for a new EU- and FDA-compliant manufacturing facility in Boxmeer.

Welcome to our team

Our production facilities in Boxmeer are part of our global Animal Health production network and manufacture and package animal health products according to Good Manufacturing Practice standards (GMP). Currently, we are investing in a new EU- and FDA-compliant manufacturing facility, which includes a Quality Control laboratory, in Boxmeer to bring our latest animal health innovations to market. Once the manufacturing facility is fully operational (expected in 2030), it will create about 80–100 FTE jobs. The facility will include dedicated warehouse, manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, and packaging and labeling teams to deliver high-quality, compliant products.

Purpose of the role

As a Senior Lab Technician Microbiology you will support the Lab Manager by ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality Quality Control laboratory operations. You will perform initially method transfer activities to later support QC testing such as stability, release, IPC. You will also be involved in investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls and GMP compliance activities. The position promotes a strong quality culture by guiding QC personnel, driving process improvements and translating compliance requirements into effective day-to-day practices.

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Support QC laboratories and external groups as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific microbiological techniques.
  • Execute, review and report routine and non-routine microbiological testing and related laboratory activities according to approved procedures and guidelines.
  • Verify, interpret and validate complex microbiological test results.
  • Perform first-line troubleshooting activities.
  • Support QC investigations, including impact assessments, root cause analysis (RCA), deviation management and investigation reporting.
  • Support QC change controls and ensure compliance with GMP requirements, site procedures, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Write procedures, work instructions, technical reports and microbiological documentation.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, qualification and validation activities to ensure reliable laboratory operations.
  • Act as SME during audits and inspections, supporting audit readiness and responses.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory processes, quality systems and operational excellence.

Your profile

  • MLO diploma or Bachelor's degree (HBO/HLO) in (Bio)Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Quality Control role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other GMP-regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP principles, quality systems, regulatory requirements, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, analytical method validation and equipment qualification.
  • Hands-on experience with microbiological testing techniques and laboratory operations.
  • Proven experience with technical writing, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, CAPA management and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • A strong quality mindset, with the ability to translate quality and compliance requirements into practical laboratory processes and influence others to do the same.
  • Excellent project management, planning, prioritization and problem-solving skills, combined with a structured and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented professional with a high level of integrity, accountability, and customer focus.
  • Experience working with electronic documentation systems, LIMS, and preferably SAP.
