Then a role within Supply Chain & Engineering (SC&E) could be a great fit for you.
Internship details
Teams
SC&E is a diverse and dynamic team working in the fields of Engineering and Manufacturing.
You will either join PES - Product Engineering and Servicing, which focuses on next-generation R&D and on imagining and reinventing the future of products and the end-to-end product journey, from the initial design to managing Product Lifecycle Systems, their sustainable footprint, and the ultimate retiring and replacement.
Or you will join M&O - Manufacturing and Operations, which focuses on digital manufacturing, intelligent asset management, and capital projects in utilities. The topic of your graduation internship could be around grid infrastructure, challenges of the energy transition in the utilities industry, and other innovations on the factory floor to provide digital transformation at the core of manufacturing.
Daily tasks
As an intern at SC&E, you will work in collaboration with colleagues to conduct your thesis research and assignment in one of the relevant research areas listed below. Your thesis will research challenges or opportunities seen at clients, with the aim of defining new business solutions or opportunities based on expert input. During your internship you’ll connect with many SC&E colleagues and gain valuable insight into the world of strategy and consulting.
Research
Product Engineering and Servicing (PES)
Within PES, the focus is on companies that specialize in product development, mainly in Research & Development departments. The team enables industry-leading clients to optimize their business processes and efficiency.
Research groups:
Each year there are multiple business-relevant thesis topics prepared around these themes.
Manufacturing and Operations (M&O)
Within M&O, research is focused on Intelligent Asset Management, Capital Projects in Utilities, and Digital Manufacturing. The team transforms production plants, assets, and work processes to deliver operational excellence. By prioritizing, optimizing, digitizing, connecting, and automating client operations through integrated solutions, AI, IoT, mobility, and platforms, it unlocks additional value and productivity within and across production sites. It’s a chance to apply your engineering skills to deliver meaningful, high-impact solutions.
Research groups:
If you're interested in writing a thesis, possible topics range from AI applications in the utility sector, data-driven predictive maintenance, rethinking the construction process and standardization for large-scale infrastructure projects, topics related to the operation and efficiency of the grid, creating new propositions for dark factories, and digital transformation of manufacturing processes.
If you have a groundbreaking idea related to the topics above, whether it addresses challenges in engineering, manufacturing, or beyond, related ideas that align with these goals are also welcome.
Within these internships, you will have the opportunity to develop, learn, build relationships, and gain insight into what it’s like to work as a consultant. The internship is designed to support both your work and academic development at the beginning of your career.
