At Allseas in Delft, the Survey Department is looking for a Data Engineer GIS to create and maintain geo-information, manage and analyse geospatial data in association with other project-related data, and develop project-specific and industry-accepted data models as needed. The role also collaborates on the creation and maintenance of GeoAI models in conjunction with the required data models.

Your role

Verify and adjust data models to comply with the project’s final deliverables. Assist with the creation and maintenance of the GeoAI model and capabilities. Assist with geo-information product creation from acquired imagery. Provide office-based services to ensure that geo-information is prepared correctly during both job preparation and execution. In addition, provide services that analyse and compile the data package to be issued to the client on- and/or offline, all in a structured and well-documented manner.

Job specific tasks

  • Support and advise other departments on the content and interpretation of geo-information in the broadest sense.
  • Survey data processing, analyses and digital reporting in accordance with contracts and relevant procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate log of the data handling steps carried out and any deviation from the procedural workflows.
  • Liaise with and support other disciplines on geo-information-driven decision making.
  • Ensure that geo-information is created in accordance with the specified data models.
  • Ensure that the GeoAI model is maintained and delivered for use offshore.
  • Participate in GeoAI models in other fields Allseas may be actively pursuing.
  • Compile templates and corresponding instructions for GIS-based field reporting both offline and online.
  • Assist with the configuration of geo-information delivery portals and dashboards in support of the digital transformation.
  • Review and approve external or internal input on geo-information project deliverables.
  • Assist with the completion of final as-built deliverables either on- and offline, ensuring that metadata is administered correctly to all geo-information provided.
  • Inform Supervisors Processing/Reporting on problems and/or issues with the data.
  • Remain up to date with industry-standard data models, sharing technology, new survey acquisition technology, and industry trends.

What we expect from you

  • BSc or MSc degree in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Hydrography, Geodesy, Earth Sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in setting up and maintaining GIS for offshore construction survey support, including the delivery of layouts, programming tools, GeoAI for FMV/oriented imagery, and geospatial analyses supporting project preparation and execution.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Strong affinity with and interest in offshore construction work.
  • Solid understanding of hydrographic survey systems and methodologies.
