What is Welcome app?

Imagine: you are trying to build a new life in a foreign country – from scratch. Where do you start? Information is not easily accessible, you don’t speak the language yet and you don’t know how to connect with new people. Many newcomers to the Netherlands face this challenge.

Welcome app makes building a new life easier. We bring relevant information, activities, services and local organizations together in one place: the Welcome app. This way we support municipalities in carrying out their tasks and offer newcomers access to opportunities, contact and control over their own future.

To increase our impact and reach we are looking for a social media & content creator with a heart for people and a nose for creative impact.

Who are we looking for?

As social media & content creator, you are the driver of our communication towards newcomers – the end users of the Welcome app. You think up smart, creative and target group-oriented campaigns to reach, activate and engage them.

You combine a strategic eye with a hands-on mentality. You feel at home in online communities and constantly think about what really appeals to our target group. You will work closely with the product team and your colleagues in the Go to Market team and get a lot of space to shape your own role.

What will you be doing?

• Campaigns & activation: You will devise and execute campaigns that activate newcomers to use the app – both online and offline.
• Content creation: You will develop inspiring, informative and inclusive content (text, visuals, video), and know how to properly incorporate our tone of voice into it.
• Social media: You create and plan content on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms – and experiment with new channels (like TikTok).
• Community building: You manage and activate our Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook groups, and know how to build a sense of belonging.
• Influencer & peer marketing: You spot and approach role models within the community of newcomers for collaborations and content.
• Onboarding & in-app communication: You’ll think about push notifications, in-app notifications and personalized onboarding flows.
• Data & insights: You monitor usage, growth and engagement and translate data into optimization of your campaigns.

Required:

• You have experience or strong affinity with digital marketing, social media and community engagement.
• You know how to tailor communications to diverse audiences, and have an eye for cultural sensitivity and inclusion.
• You are proactive, creative and can work independently within a dynamic team.
• You have experience with tools such as Canva, and can work well visually and textually and understand how to adapt your message to different audiences.
• You have a good command of Dutch and English – other languages are an advantage, especially if you have a newcomer background.
• You are enthusiastic about the mission of Welcome app and feel committed to the goal: a society where everyone can participate.
