About our Team

Our Science, Technology, and Medical Journals division manages an extensive collection of high impact journals. We are responsible for managing existing journals, launching new journals, and securing society contracts to support annual growth and customer satisfaction. We take a strategic approach to serve our various audiences: authors, editors, researchers, societies, and academia.

About the Role

You will have responsibility for a portfolio of journals in industrial and manufacturing engineering. You will work on related projects and initiatives that help deliver innovation and growth to the organization. You will build successful partnerships with individuals and external partners to develop mutually beneficial long-term collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Developing the strategy for the portfolio to maintain growth and create ideas for new journals to launch;
  • Collaborating closely with other Publishers in the broader Engineering team whose journals overlap or complement the scope of your journals;
  • Establishing networks with key external and internal stakeholders in order to manage and develop the portfolio successfully;
  • Engaging with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers to deliver innovative journal solutions;
  • Working with editors, authors, editorial boards, and the wider academic community to ensure copy flow of relevant, high-quality manuscripts;
  • Monitoring continuous quality control and all aspects of day-to-day editorial, production, and publishing operations and effectively addressing improvements where required;
  • Meeting portfolio objectives regarding content growth, article market share, citation share, relative impact factor, editorial speeds, and author and editor satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Journal management experience and publishing experience;
  • An in-depth educational background and keen interest in academic publishing;
  • Demonstrable experience within an academic or research environment;
  • Excellent English proficiency, both written and oral, and experience communicating across international boundaries;
  • A natural ability to communicate and engage and influence cross-functional teams and external partners;
  • The ability to be a self-starter and remain flexible as priorities change;
  • Enjoyment of collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful initiatives;
  • The ability to build relationships with stakeholders, teams, and the wider community;
  • The ability to identify and understand market needs for potential business opportunities;
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and interest in discovering new technologies and online developments;
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
